Chief Financial Officer / Head of Finance
Location: Long Island, NY
Base Salary: $200,000–$250,000 + Performance-Based Bonus
Work Arrangement: Onsite with potential hybrid flexibility
Position Overview
A growing decorative lighting and omnichannel consumer products business is seeking an accomplished, commercially minded Chief Financial Officer / Head of Finance to lead its next stage of growth. This hands-on leadership role will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and ownership team, translating business strategy into financial plans, operating metrics, capital decisions, and measurable results.
The ideal candidate will understand the financial complexity of manufacturing, inventory, distribution, wholesale, e-commerce, and retail and bring a strong combination of financial discipline and commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Finance, Accounting, FP&A, and Human Resources.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and ownership team.
- Oversee banking, insurance, accounting, legal, and other external relationships.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, cash-flow management, and financial analysis.
- Develop KPI-driven reporting and profitability analysis across products, customers, and channels.
- Analyze revenue, COGS, gross margin, operating expenses, and ROI to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Optimize inventory investment, working capital, purchasing, vendor terms, and supply-chain economics.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain on product costing, inventory valuation, logistics, and manufacturing productivity.
- Maintain strong accounting, reporting, internal controls, audit, tax, and risk-management disciplines.
- Develop executive dashboards and operating reports to support decision-making.
- Improve financial systems, automation, and data integration; Oracle NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
- Evaluate new business opportunities, channel expansion, capital expenditures, and strategic investments.
- Manage union relations, including collective bargaining and ongoing liaison with representatives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership as a CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or comparable executive.
- Strong executive presence and experience advising CEOs and ownership groups.
- Significant experience in consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, or related industries.
- Experience with international trade and global importing.
- Proven success scaling businesses across multiple channels, including wholesale, e-commerce/DTC, and retail.
- Strong FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow, and working-capital expertise.
- Deep understanding of inventory, product costing, COGS, gross margin, purchasing, and supply-chain economics.
- Ability to translate financial and operational data into clear business recommendations.
- Experience modernizing financial systems, reporting, and processes; NetSuite preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
