About The Role
The Deal Desk Analyst is a proactive commercial partner to PitchBook's sales organization, engaged upstream of the deal to advise on order structuring, pricing strategy, and discount requests before deals reach CPQ. This position also ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within PitchBook's deal execution process — reviewing, processing, and validating sales orders and contract amendments to maintain data integrity, financial accuracy, and adherence to company policies — and contributes commercial data analysis that supports pipeline and forecast reviews. The analyst will work closely with sales, finance, legal, and revenue operations teams to identify and resolve discrepancies, streamline processes, and provide proactive support to the sales organization. This is a mid-level role suited for candidates with strong analytical and business judgment, attention to detail, and experience in Deal Desk, order management, revenue operations, or sales administration who want to operate as a strategic partner to the commercial org rather than a back-office processor.
The Revenue Operations department creates, maintains, and continually improves PitchBook's systems that support our client-facing roles in Sales and Customer Success, working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and IT to drive efficiency, accuracy, and revenue growth. As part of this team, the role grows into reviewing and guiding strategic and non-standard deals, becoming a trusted advisor to regional Sales leadership, and owning the discounting-trend and turnaround-time reporting that shapes revenue policy.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Deal Structuring & Pricing Guidance: Proactively engage with sales reps before a deal reaches CPQ to advise on order structuring and pricing strategy, reducing rework and downstream discrepancies
- Discount Review: Evaluate discount requests against pricing guardrails and deal economics, providing sales managers with documented recommendations to inform their approval decisions. Deal Desk's role in discount governance is expected to expand over time
- Commercial Analytics Contribution: Pull and structure deal data (discounting, order type, term structure) to support pipeline and forecast reviews led by Revenue Operations leadership
- Order Processing & Contract Activation: Process and review sales orders and contract amendments, ensuring accurate data entry, policy compliance, and timely activation. Volume is expected to shift over time as Support Operations capacity is built out
- Sales Support: Serve as the sales organization's primary point of contact on order processing best practices and compliance requirements
- Issue Resolution & CRM Management: Collaborate with sales, finance, and legal to resolve order discrepancies; work within Salesforce and other CRM tools to validate contract terms, pricing, and billing details
- Audit Tracking & Trend Analysis: Maintain and update order audit dashboards to track discrepancies and trends; identify recurring patterns and propose process improvements rather than logging exceptions alone
- Billing Accuracy: Verify contract amendments, billing changes, and collection notices in coordination with the billing team
- Process Documentation: Assist in developing and maintaining process documentation and internal guidelines to improve operational efficiency
- Team Development: Support the professional growth of junior team members through coaching and mentorship
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance order management processes and improve internal controls
- Deal Cycle Time: Reduce average order turnaround time by resolving structuring and pricing questions before a deal reaches CPQ
- Pricing Guardrail Adherence: Track the rate at which discount recommendations align with pricing guardrails, informing future discount governance design
- Order & Quote Accuracy: Maintain low error/rework rates on processed orders, reflecting both compliance discipline and upstream deal quality
