Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Company Overview:
Established and growing organization within the construction / real estate development industry is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations and drive long-term growth across its Houston portfolio. This role will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and oversee all financial activities for Houston operations.
Position Summary
The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, project financing, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry experience in construction or real estate development, with a strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, capital structuring, and project-based financial oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all accounting and finance operations for Houston-based projects and entities
Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with company growth objectives
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and capital funding strategies
Provide oversight of job costing, WIP schedules, cost controls, and project profitability analysis
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual)
Partner with executive leadership on investment decisions, acquisitions, and development opportunities
Oversee audit, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements
Implement and improve financial systems, internal controls, and operational efficiencies
Build, mentor, and lead the accounting/finance team
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
Prior CFO or senior-level finance leadership experience preferred
MUST have construction or real estate development industry experience
Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, development pro formas, and project financing
Experience managing banking relationships and lender reporting
Strategic thinker with hands-on leadership approach
Strong communication and executive presentation skills
