Lead financial strategy and architect the future of a national luxury smart home brand scaling toward $100M+—own the CFO seat, partner with the CEO and board, and build the financial infrastructure that powers aggressive growth.
THE WHO: Our client is the nation's leading luxury residential technology integrator, operating across 12+ branches in 40+ states. They design and install premium smart home systems—lighting, shades, audio/video, networking, automation—for some of the most spectacular homes in the country. They're PE-backed, building toward $100M+ in revenue, and unifying what started as 15+ independent companies into one cohesive national platform.
THE WHAT: You will be the Chief Financial Officer, reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with the ownership group and board. You'll lead financial strategy, oversee the entire finance organization (including the Controller and accounting team), and serve as the primary financial voice at the leadership table. You'll build the systems, discipline, and reporting cadence that a scaling, multi-location business demands.
MUST HAVES: We need a strategic finance leader ready to step into or grow within the CFO seat. You might be a high-performing VP of Finance ready for your first CFO role, or a CFO from a $50M-$75M company looking to scale with a growing platform. You need 10-15+ years of progressive finance leadership, including experience as a Controller, VP of Finance, or CFO. PE-backed company experience is highly preferred. You need to understand board dynamics, lender relationships, and how to build financial infrastructure that drives enterprise value. MBA or CPA is strongly preferred. Most importantly, you need to be a strategic builder who thrives on bringing order to complexity and scaling businesses.
THE WHY: This is a career-defining opportunity to be the financial architect of a national brand. You'll have direct partnership with the CEO and board, real autonomy to build your team and processes, and the satisfaction of seeing your work directly shape enterprise value. Every forecast you build, every control you implement, every board presentation you deliver will drive decisions at the highest level. You're joining during a transformational period with significant wealth-creation potential tied to the company's growth trajectory. For the right leader, this is the opportunity to grow into or expand your CFO experience, build something significant, and share meaningfully in the value you create through long-term incentive participation.
THE WHERE: Houston, TX preferred, but we're open to exceptional candidates elsewhere who can travel regularly to locations and headquarters. This is a hybrid setup with flexibility, but you need to be present and engaged with the board, ownership group, and branch network.
THE HOW: Three strategic priorities will define your first 12-18 months:
- Establish Financial Truth & Trust: Lead the effort to reconcile inventory, AR, and system-of-record data so financial reporting can be trusted by the CEO, board, and lenders. Put controls in place so problems don't recur. Establish a disciplined, audit-ready close process across all branches that consolidates into financials you can stand behind.
- Build the Strategic Forecasting & Capital Model: Create and maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and a robust quarterly, annual, and multi-year budget and P&L model that gives the board and ownership a clear, current view of where the business is headed. Your models need to be the foundation for every major capital decision and the roadmap to aggressive growth.
- Build Infrastructure for Scale: Partner with the CEO and board to build the financial systems, controls, and reporting capabilities that will support the company as it scales toward $100M and beyond. This includes optimizing working capital, strengthening EBITDA quality, and ensuring the company has the financial discipline and infrastructure to support ambitious growth.
THE NUTS & BOLTS: Base salary range of $205,000 - $240,000 with performance-based bonus opportunity (30% target). Total cash compensation of $266,500 - $312,000. Meaningful long-term incentive plan (LTIP) tied to company growth and performance. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, HSA/FSA, PTO, paid parental leave, and more.

YOUR DNA
You're a strategic financial leader
You've been a CFO or are a VP of Finance ready for the step up. You understand board dynamics, lender relationships, covenant management, and how to drive enterprise value. You're comfortable in the CFO seat and energized by the opportunity to grow with a scaling platform.
You're a financial architect
You're not intimidated by complexity—you're energized by it. You see broken systems and think, "I can build this." You thrive on creating the financial infrastructure that transforms a collection of businesses into a scalable platform. You've done this before, and you're ready to do it at a bigger scale.
You have board-ready presence
You present confidently to boards and ownership groups. You translate complex financial information into clear, strategic insights. You have the judgment to be a trusted partner at the highest level. You don't just report numbers—you drive decisions.
You're an operator-finance hybrid
You understand that CFO leadership in a field-driven, project-based business is fundamentally different from a corporate role. You've lived in branch-level P&Ls, job costing, inventory reconciliation, and cash management. You know how to speak the language of operations, not just finance.
You're growth-oriented and ambitious
You're ready to grow with a scaling platform. If you're stepping into your first CFO role, you're hungry to prove yourself. If you're already a CFO, you're looking for a bigger platform and meaningful long-term incentive upside. You understand that wealth creation in PE-backed companies comes from building value over time.
You're a team builder
You hire, develop, and mentor high-performing finance teams. You'll select and develop your own Controller and build the team that executes your vision. You create cultures of accountability and excellence.
What You'll Do:
Own Financial Strategy
Set the financial vision, capital structure, and long-range planning for the company as it continues to scale nationally. Partner with the CEO and board on major strategic decisions.
Lead the Finance Organization
Oversee accounting, FP&A, and treasury. Mentor and develop the Controller and finance team. Build a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.
Partner with the Board & Ownership
Serve as the primary financial partner to the CEO, board, and ownership group. Deliver the reporting, analysis, and strategic insight they need to make confident decisions and drive growth.
Build the Forecasting & Capital Model
Maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and robust quarterly, annual, and multi-year budget, P&L, and cash flow models. Your models are the roadmap to growth.
Drive Strategic Reporting & Analysis
Produce branch-level P&Ls, KPI dashboards, and the financial analysis the executive team and board need to run the business and drive enterprise value.
Build Financial Infrastructure for Scale
Evaluate and upgrade financial systems, processes, and controls (ERP, reporting tools, legal/compliance frameworks) to support aggressive growth and M&A activity.
