Company:
A private equity-backed, middle-market media and advertising business is seeking an experienced Interim CFO / Head of Finance to provide senior financial leadership during an executive transition. The organization has established Accounting and FP&A teams and is looking for a seasoned finance executive who can maintain stability, lead critical finance initiatives, and serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
Purpose of your position:
The Interim CFO / Head of Finance will serve as the senior finance leader for the organization, overseeing Accounting and FP&A while providing strategic financial guidance to the CEO. This individual will take ownership of lender-facing activities, liquidity management, planning and forecasting, and overall coordination of the finance function. The role requires someone who can operate effectively at the executive level while remaining close enough to the business to step into the details when needed.
Primary responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary finance contact for banking and lending partners, coordinating reporting requirements and responding to financial information requests.
- Lead an upcoming lender-related amendment process in partnership with ownership and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain clear visibility into liquidity, near-term cash requirements, and working capital through a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Direct the annual planning process for 2027 and oversee the Q4 2026 financial reforecast.
- Provide financial analysis, guidance, and decision support to the CEO and broader leadership team.
- Provide executive oversight across Accounting and FP&A, ensuring the functions remain aligned and operate effectively during the transition.
- Establish priorities across Finance, drive key initiatives forward, and ensure important deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Maintain appropriate oversight of financial performance, reporting, forecasting, and cash management without unnecessarily taking over responsibilities owned by the existing team.
- Work comfortably across both strategic and tactical matters, digging into financial details when circumstances require.
- Provide steady leadership and maintain continuity across the finance organization during a period of executive change.
Requirements:
- Significant experience serving as a CFO, Head of Finance, or comparable senior finance executive within a middle-market organization.
- Demonstrated success operating within a leveraged capital structure and managing the financial requirements associated with debt.
- Direct experience working with lenders, including recurring reporting, covenant matters, financing requests, and amendment processes.
- Strong command of liquidity and cash management, including development and oversight of 13-week cash flow forecasts.
- Proven leadership of annual budgets, forecasts, and periodic reforecasting processes.
- Experience overseeing both Accounting and FP&A organizations.
- Background within media, advertising, digital services, or a related business model preferred.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to coordinate teams, establish accountability, and keep critical initiatives moving.
- Comfortable balancing high-level financial leadership with hands-on involvement when appropriate for a middle-market environment.
- Private equity-backed company experience preferred, particularly exposure to sponsor-supported financing or lender negotiations.
- Previous Interim CFO or consulting leadership experience is a plus.
