Our client, a PE‑backed construction and field service company entering its next phase of growth, is looking for a CFO to join their leadership team. This role will serve as both the financial architect and strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team.
The CFO will lead all financial operations, including strategic planning, reporting, compliance, M&A, and systems integration. This role is central to evolving the organization from a tactical, founder‑driven environment into one with scalable infrastructure and data‑driven decision making.
Core Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership & Reporting Infrastructure
· Own the monthly close process and produce accurate, timely three-statement financials.
· Develop and institutionalize monthly and annual reporting packages, including board and lender materials.
· Establish financial and operating KPIs aligned with multi-branch performance.
· Lead annual audit and tax processes; serve as primary interface with external auditors and tax advisors.
· Ensure strict adherence to U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements.
· Maintain financial covenant compliance and proactively manage lender reporting obligations.
2. Systems Architecture & ERP Implementation
· Oversee integration between ERP, CRM (e.g., Aspire), and related operational platforms.
· Drive process standardization and internal control development across locations.
· Demonstrate structured project management capability in systems transitions and integrations.
3. Construction Accounting & Operational Finance
· Oversee percent of completion accounting and job-level reconciliation.
· Implement job costing discipline and gross margin analytics.
· Partner with operations and sales leadership on pricing, capital investment analysis, and performance management.
· Build scalable reporting across greenfield offices and acquisitions.
4. Treasury, Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
· Lead treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
· Oversee A/R management, working capital discipline, and capital allocation.
· Manage banking relationships and optimize financing structures.
· Develop proactive forecasting models to support growth planning.
5. M&A & Strategic Finance
· Support acquisition diligence, financial modeling, and integration planning.
· Standardize accounting and reporting across acquired businesses.
· Evaluate capital deployment, expansion strategy, and ROI of new market entries.
6. Team Leadership & Organizational Development
· Manage and mentor direct reports; establish accountability and performance standards.
· Foster a data-driven culture across operations, sales, and corporate functions.
Required Qualifications
· 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (CFO, Controller, or VP Finance).
· Demonstrated experience in multi-site construction, contracting, or field services businesses ($50MM–$150MM revenue preferred).
· Direct experience leading financial audits and producing monthly three-statement financials.
· Experience managing financial covenants and implementing or upgrading ERP/financial systems.
· Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
· Demonstrated treasury and cash flow management expertise.
· Experience managing and developing direct reports.
· Experience scaling businesses through greenfield growth and M&A integration.A integration.
