Spectrum Search is partnered with a growth-stage AI technology company building data and infrastructure solutions for advanced machine learning applications. The company is looking for a Business Operations Manager to work closely with its leadership team, turning strategic priorities into clear plans, scalable processes and measurable execution.
About the opportunity
This is a high-ownership role for someone comfortable operating across strategy and hands-on execution. You will take responsibility for ambiguous, cross-functional challenges, establish new operational functions and improve how the organisation plans, prioritises and executes as it scales.
The position offers broad exposure across engineering, finance, go-to-market and people operations, with scope to take on increasing leadership responsibility over time.
The role
Working directly with the leadership team, you will help translate company priorities into operational reality. The role combines business operations, strategy and operations, project management and analytical problem-solving.
You will be expected to identify gaps, create practical solutions and drive initiatives through to completion, often in areas where established processes do not yet exist.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, prioritise and deliver strategic initiatives alongside the leadership team
- Build and develop operational functions across areas such as finance, people operations, go-to-market operations, planning and reporting
- Lead cross-functional projects involving engineering, commercial and finance teams
- Turn ambiguous objectives into structured project plans with clear ownership and outcomes
- Establish effective operating cadences, including goal setting, business reviews and company-wide planning
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement lightweight, scalable processes
- Use financial modelling, dashboards and data analysis to support decision-making
- Maintain accountability across projects and help teams prioritise effectively
Essential requirements
- Strong experience in a cross-functional business operations, strategy and operations, Chief of Staff, consulting or similarly high-ownership role
- Demonstrated ability to take unfamiliar or ambiguous business problems from definition through to execution
- Strong technical fluency and confidence working with engineering teams on artificial intelligence and machine learning infrastructure topics
- Practical understanding of financial models and commercial decision-making
- Strong analytical capability, with experience using tools such as Google Sheets, dashboards and SQL
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and commercial teams
- Comfortable building processes and functions where limited structure currently exists
Nice-to-haves
- Experience within an early-stage or growth-stage technology company
- Experience establishing finance, people operations or go-to-market operations functions
- Experience designing operational cadences such as objectives and key results, business reviews or planning cycles
- A strong technical foundation in computer science, engineering or a related discipline
Location and remote setup
This is a full-time, on-site position based in San Francisco, requiring office attendance five days per week. Candidates must already be based in San Francisco or be willing to relocate. Visa transfers, including relevant H-1B and OPT arrangements, can be considered.
