Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Reading, PA area (Berks County), fully onsite
Pay: $200,000–$220,000 base salary
Overview
Our client is a respected, second-generation family-owned manufacturer of custom-engineered heavy industrial equipment. They serve demanding industries including energy, aerospace, semiconductor, metals, and transit. This is the company's first CFO hire, which makes it a rare chance to build the finance function's strategic role from the ground up at a stable, growing business!
The CFO will report directly to the CEO/President and serve as a true strategic partner to ownership and the Leadership Team. The Controller, Facilities, and Purchasing will report directly to the CFO, along with an established accounting team under the Controller. The culture is collaborative, humble, and down to earth.
The CFO will own:
- Financial reporting, trending, and analysis, delivered as clear insight for ownership
- Budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning
- Job-level and project profitability, custom costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting in an engineer-to-order environment
- Bank and lender relationships, credit lines, and insurance
- The outside CPA relationship, shared with the Controller, including tax and strategic planning with ownership
- Financial leadership over Facilities, including buildings, maintenance, and renovation planning
- A key supporting role in an upcoming Microsoft Dynamics ERP implementation, keeping the transition smooth across departments
Compensation & Perks
- $200,000–$220,000 base salary

Requirements
- 10–15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within an operating business
- A strategic CFO mindset, paired with the willingness to work hands-on across every part of the finance function
- Hands-on experience with job costing, project profitability, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Background in engineer-to-order manufacturing, job-shop, construction, project-based, distribution, or inventory-intensive environments
- Proven experience leading and developing finance and accounting teams
- ERP implementation experience
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management skills
- Experience at mid-market, privately held companies is strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- CPA and/or MBA a plus, though equivalent executive experience is valued
- Microsoft Dynamics experience and comfort with AI tools are a plus
- Highly organized, calm under pressure, and skilled at building trust across departments and with ownership

This is a direct-hire, fully onsite position; remote or hybrid work is not available. Relocation assistance is not offered, and candidates from outside the area must relocate before their start date. Employment is contingent on a background check. Visa sponsorship is not available.
