Compensation: $375,000 – $425,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus + Significant Equity Participation

Overview
A private equity–backed platform company headquartered in the New York City metro area is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the next phase of financial and operational scale as the business executes an aggressive buy-and-build strategy.
The company has established a strong platform foundation and is now entering a high-velocity acquisition phase, targeting multiple add-on acquisitions across a fragmented industry. Backed by a well-capitalized sponsor with a clear value-creation roadmap, the organization is focused on EBITDA expansion, operational integration, and long-term exit readiness. The CFO will serve as a key architect of enterprise value creation—responsible for building the financial infrastructure, capital strategy, and integration discipline necessary to support rapid M&A expansion.
This executive will partner directly with the CEO, Board of Directors, and private equity sponsor to drive financial performance, institutionalize scalable processes, and position the platform for a successful exit.
Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer will lead all aspects of the finance organization including financial strategy, capital structure management, M&A execution, integration oversight, and operational financial leadership.
This role requires a highly strategic finance leader who is equally comfortable operating at the board level and executing hands-on in a high-growth environment. The ideal candidate has prior CFO or senior finance leadership experience within a private equity-backed platform and a proven track record supporting multiple acquisitions within a buy-and-build strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
• Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and private equity sponsor on growth strategy and value creation
• Develop and execute the company’s long-term financial roadmap aligned with the investment thesis
• Lead enterprise financial planning, including annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning
• Establish KPI frameworks and performance dashboards across all operating units
• Identify opportunities to expand EBITDA margins, optimize cost structure, and improve operational efficiency
• Drive pricing discipline, margin analytics, and performance accountability across the organization
M&A Leadership & Integration
• Lead the financial evaluation and execution of platform and add-on acquisitions
• Develop acquisition models, investment theses, and return analyses
• Partner with investment bankers, diligence providers, and legal advisors during transactions
• Oversee financial due diligence and integration planning
• Develop standardized post-acquisition integration processes and reporting structures
• Monitor synergy realization and integration milestones across acquired entities
Finance Infrastructure & Organizational Development
• Build and scale a best-in-class finance organization capable of supporting a multi-entity platform
• Oversee accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, compliance, and financial reporting functions
• Improve month-end close cadence and financial reporting accuracy
• Establish institutional financial policies, controls, and governance frameworks
• Implement scalable ERP and financial reporting systems to support growth and acquisition integration
Capital Strategy & Liquidity Management
• Lead capital structure strategy and debt financing initiatives
• Manage lender relationships and ensure compliance with credit facilities and covenants
• Oversee working capital management and cash flow optimization
• Develop dynamic liquidity forecasting models to support acquisition activity
• Evaluate recapitalization opportunities and support future capital events
Board & Sponsor Engagement
• Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly board reporting packages
• Provide detailed financial analysis and performance insights to the private equity sponsor
• Support value creation initiatives through data-driven decision support
• Prepare the business for eventual exit through audit readiness, QoE preparation, and financial transparency
Organizational Leadership
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team
• Establish accountability frameworks and financial operating rhythms
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and HR leadership
• Transition founder-driven processes into scalable, institutional infrastructure
• Foster a culture of financial discipline, transparency, and performance accountability
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
• 15–25+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
• Prior CFO or Divisional CFO experience in a private equity-backed company strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success supporting multiple acquisitions within a buy-and-build strategy
• Deep expertise in financial modeling, capital structure management, and strategic finance
• Experience managing sponsor relationships and board reporting processes
• Big 4 audit, transaction advisory, or investment banking experience preferred
