Strategic Dimensions are pleased to be partnering with a well known and purpose driven 3rd sector client in their interim to permanent search for an experienced, dynamic and change focussed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to play a pivotal role in leading across their financial strategy and operations.
This is a highly complex organisation operating across multiple regions with success relying upon strong financial governance, ethical leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The role would require a start no later than close of April 2025.
The Role
As CFO, you will report directly to the Chief Executive and be a key member of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT). You will lead a high-performing finance division, ensuring financial stability, strong governance, and strategic resource allocation to support their mission. This role is more than financial management—it’s about shaping the future of a globally recognised organisation and ensuring they can maximise impact in an ever-evolving landscape.
The successful candidate will bring a forward-thinking approach to financial leadership, focusing on innovation, digital transformation, and efficiency. You will balance financial acumen with ethical leadership, ensuring that their operations reflect core values of integrity, inclusion, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership – Contribute to the organisation’s long-term vision, working closely with the CEO, SLT, and Board of Trustees to ensure financial sustainability and operational excellence.
- Financial Strategy & Planning – Lead financial strategy development, including medium-term financial planning, budgeting, and investment decision-making.
- Operational & Governance Excellence – Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and oversee robust financial governance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Leadership & Team Development – Inspire and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Represent the organisation externally, working with key stakeholders including regulators, funders, and international partners.
- Digital & Financial Innovation – Drive efficiencies through digital financial transformation and identify new opportunities to enhance financial processes.
About You
Our client is looking for a strategic and inspiring leader with a strong track record in financial management within a large, complex organisation. Your ability to align financial strategy with organisational goals will be key to success in this role.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive senior financial leadership experience within a multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Fully qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to develop and execute financial strategies that drive long-term sustainability.
- Experience influencing and advising at Board and Trustee levels.
- Strong ability to interpret and respond to political, economic, and financial developments.
- A collaborative leader with experience managing and motivating large teams.
- Deep commitment to ethical leadership, diversity, and inclusion.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to drive continuous improvement.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in charity or non-profit financial reporting standards.
- Understanding of legal and governance oversight.
- Experience in investment portfolio management.
- Knowledge of digital finance transformation and process optimisation.
Compensation
Our client can offer a base salary of up to £110,000 pa along with a range of additional benefits, including flexible working options, generous pension schemes, annual leave allowances, company sick pay, and life assurance.
