- Responsible for the financial success and sustainability of the organization and its strategic goals.
- Leads the financial and budget management for the agency in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, contract requirements and internal policies and procedures.
- Manages the development and monitoring of budgets; develops financial business plans and forecasts. Directs the development and utilization of activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
- Partners with programs to develop long-range plans and financial forecasts to effectively steward agency business units.
- Serves as a liaison to external stakeholders (partners, auditors, agencies, and funders) to advocate for and negotiate contract terms and conditions (e.g., payments, reimbursements, and rates).
- Advises agency business development activities by creating financial models to determine viability/profitability of new CII business opportunities and providing due diligence and integration support.
- Develops key metric indicators and dashboards to highlight the financial status of program earnings.
- Provides direction on special projects related to Finance, including New Market Tax Credit loans and financing.
- Spearheads the budgeting relationship between program leads and Finance. Continuously monitors the budgeting process by clarifying workflow and mandating the active engagement of departments in financial responsibility.
- Delivers guidance on insurance and risk management applicable to agency operations.
- Participates in the constant monitoring and auditing of the contribution of CII funds for agency retirement plans. Partners with broker to ensure CII funds are invested in alignment with agency financial goals.
- Manages CII compliance with public/private grants and donation restrictions.
- Accountable for CII's investment portfolio and the endowment. Engages with the Board of Trustees committees as needed to develop short-, medium-, and long- term financial plans and projections, including audit review and investment management.
- Directs the finance department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions, maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for federal and state funders, foundations, and the Board of Trustees. Oversees the preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, coordinates audits and timely filing of tax returns.
- Actively participates in and takes primary responsibility for the performance management process in respective area, including clearly communicating its priority, objectives, expectations, and ensuring adherence to the process deadlines.
- Plays a vital role in creating and promoting CII’s culture by providing a sense of vision, purpose, reinforcing CII’s mission.
- Champions employee privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of staff PII (Protected Identifiable Information) and PHI (Protected Health Information) to authorized individuals and entities.

Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of executive-level financial planning experience in a non-profit environment.
- 15+ years of managerial experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred but not required.
Computer Skills
- Experience with ERPs for fiscal operations (e.g., NetSuite, Workday), expense systems (e.g., Concur) and 3rd party payment systems.

Compensation
$260,000.00 USD - $630,000.00 USD
In accordance with California law, the expected pay range for this position is included in this posting. The actual compensation will be determined based on factors permitted by law. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range to maintain internal inequity and allow opportunity for future salary growth. CII salaries are determined based on comprehensive internal and external market analysis, as well as the skills, education, and experience relevant to each position.
