- Base Salary: $375,000 – $425,000

Role Overview
Our client is a scaled, private equity–backed portfolio company generating approximately $1B+ in annual revenue, with a well-established operating model, mature finance infrastructure, and institutional ownership. The business is entering a planned CFO succession period, as the current CFO intends to retire at the end of Q2 2026.
The organization is seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to join during a structured transition period, working alongside the current CFO to ensure continuity, knowledge transfer, and leadership stability. Following the transition, this individual will assume full responsibility for the finance function and serve as a central leader through the remainder of the PE hold period, with an anticipated exit timeline of approximately four years.
This role is ideal for a CFO who has operated at scale, partnered closely with PE sponsors and boards, and successfully led businesses through multi-year value-creation plans and exit execution.
Finance & Corporate Development Organization (Current State)
- Accounting: Fully built and mature controllership function
- FP&A: Established enterprise-level FP&A team with robust forecasting and planning cadence
- Corporate Development: Dedicated Corp Dev function supporting M&A and strategic initiatives
- Systems & Controls: Institutional-grade ERP, reporting, and internal controls in place
- Current CFO: Actively supporting a planned transition through Q2 2026
Transition & Initial Mandate
- Partner closely with the current CFO to ensure seamless leadership transition
- Build credibility with the CEO, board, and PE sponsor during the transition period
- Assume increasing ownership of board reporting, capital markets, and strategic initiatives
- Maintain continuity across financial operations, reporting, and investor communications
- Prepare to take full CFO ownership ahead of the next phase of value creation
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & PE Partnership
- Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team and trusted partner to the CEO
- Act as primary financial liaison to the PE sponsor and Board of Directors
- Lead board reporting, investor updates, and long-range financial planning
- Translate PE value-creation priorities into executable financial strategies
Enterprise Finance Leadership
- Oversee all finance functions, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, risk, and compliance
- Ensure continued excellence in GAAP reporting, audit readiness, and internal controls
- Drive enterprise-level financial discipline, forecasting accuracy, and capital allocation
- Maintain strong relationships with lenders, advisors, auditors, and external partners
M&A, Corporate Development & Strategy
- Partner with the Corporate Development team on M&A strategy, diligence, and execution
- Provide financial leadership on acquisitions, integrations, and portfolio optimization
- Evaluate organic growth initiatives, capital investments, and strategic alternatives
- Support post-close integration and synergy realization efforts
Performance Management & Value Creation
- Lead KPI development, dashboarding, and enterprise performance management
- Drive margin improvement, cost optimization, and return-on-investment discipline
- Support operational leaders with actionable financial insights at scale
- Oversee cash flow optimization, leverage management, and covenant compliance
Exit Planning & Transaction Execution
- Own financial readiness for exit, including reporting quality, normalization, and transparency
- Lead sell-side preparation, advisor coordination, and data room readiness
- Serve as a key executive leader throughout the transaction and exit process
- Ensure continuity and stability through ownership transition
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Prior CFO experience in large, private equity–backed companies ($500M+ revenue preferred)
- Demonstrated success operating in scaled, complex, multi-division environments
- Experience leading finance through multi-year PE hold periods and exits
- Strong background partnering with boards, PE sponsors, and executive leadership teams
- Deep expertise across accounting, FP&A, treasury, capital markets, and transaction finance
- Comfortable stepping into a succession-based transition with long-term ownership
- Strategic, steady, and execution-oriented leadership style
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
- MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred
