Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – New Space Sector

Founded in 2018, our client client company operates in the emerging New Space sector, transitioning from IT consulting for government space programs to developing cutting-edge commercial space solutions. Our client expertise lies in power systems and communications, and we offer a one-stop-shop approach to spacecraft development. Recent M&A activity, including the acquisition of Invocon, has strengthened our client client position in the industry. With a strong government and commercial client base, we are preparing for our client client next growth phase through strategic fundraising and expansion efforts.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to drive financial growth, manage investor relations, and lead capital-raising efforts as we scale. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in government contracting, M&A, and high-capital-expenditure (CapEx) industries such as aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring financial operational expertise while maintaining a strategic outlook to position the company for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Capital Raising & Investor Relations
- Lead and structure new investment rounds, engaging venture capital, private equity, and institutional investors (e.g., Fidelity, GKN PE, family offices).
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies aligned with company growth and expansion goals.
- Provide clear financial reporting and milestone tracking to ensure investor confidence.
- Educate investors on government contracting structures and financial intricacies.
2. Mergers & Acquisitions
- Drive M&A strategy, identifying and evaluating acquisition targets to strengthen core capabilities.
- Lead due diligence, integration, and financial structuring for acquisitions, including the recent acquisition of Invocon.
- Ensure smooth post-acquisition integration and value realization.
3. Financial Strategy & Operations
- Establish and optimize robust financial systems, data rooms, and due diligence processes.
- Oversee financial planning, reporting, and compliance to align with government contracting frameworks.
- Manage financial risks, cash flow, and operational expenses, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Work closely with the COO and technical teams to analyze Bill of Materials (BOM) and manufacturing costs.
4. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with the executive team, finance, legal, and operations to drive strategic decisions.
- Lead hiring efforts for finance and strategy teams to support company growth.
- Foster a culture of financial discipline, execution, and innovation in a rapidly evolving environment.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential Experience:
- Government Sales & Contracting: Strong understanding of DoD, NASA, DARPA, and three-letter agency contracts.
- Capital Raising & Investor Relations: Proven track record of securing funding from venture capital, private equity, and institutional investors.
- Startup or Private Equity Experience: Experience leading finance teams in growth-stage companies.
- Mergers & Acquisitions: Expertise in deal structuring, due diligence, and post-merger integration.
- High CapEx & Manufacturing Financial Expertise: Background in aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing finance.
Preferred Experience:
- Space industry or government contracting familiarity.
- Public markets exposure (IPO, SPAC experience is a plus).
- International finance expertise, including regulatory compliance and foreign investments.
- Experience structuring strategic partnerships with aerospace primes (SpaceX, Boeing, Blue Origin, etc.).
