COMPANY: The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is responsible for constructing, managing, operating, and improving the State’s toll facilities, as well as financing new revenue-producing transportation projects. MDTA oversees eight toll facilities (two turnpikes, two tunnels, and four bridges) that are critical to keeping traffic moving efficiently across Maryland. MDTA offers unique opportunities to contribute to large-scale State wide financial stewardship that directly impacts regional mobility and economic growth.
ROLE: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, hybrid role based in Baltimore, MD, with flexibility for partial work from home. The CFO will lead MDTA’s overall financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and long-term financial sustainability for toll facilities and transportation projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing financial reporting and statements, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, managing internal controls, and providing data-driven analysis to inform executive decision-making. The CFO will supervise finance staff, coordinate with external auditors and bond advisors, and present financial information to leadership and stakeholders. The role also involves supporting revenue optimization, risk management, and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Finance
- Proven leadership experience
- Public financial disclosure proficiency & experience with financial reporting
- Knowledge of governmental or public authority finance, debt management, and capital markets is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
