Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering exclusively on a Chief Financial Officer search with a highly regarded, mission-driven nonprofit organization in the Baltimore area. This role reports directly to the CEO and will oversee finance and accounting across a multi-entity structure with a mix of internal finance operations and external support partners.
The CFO will serve as a key partner to the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board, providing insight into financial performance, guiding budgeting and planning, and supporting long-term financial sustainability and decision-making.

Responsibilities:
- Lead all finance and accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, leadership team, and Board on financial performance, risk, and organizational direction
- Oversee audit, tax filings, and external reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls
- Manage financial oversight across a multi-entity structure and coordinate with external accounting and support partners
- Oversee cash flow, banking relationships, and financial planning to support long-term stability
- Partner with leadership on financial modeling, scenario planning, and operational decision support
- Support ongoing enhancements to financial systems, reporting, and overall finance function effectiveness
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including senior leadership responsibility
- Nonprofit experience strongly preferred, ideally within complex operating environments
- Exposure to housing, real estate, or similarly structured organizations required
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting background; CPA preferred
- Ability to operate in both strategic and hands-on capacities within a collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership and Board stakeholders
