Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a respected Maryland based financial institution to identify its next Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. This is a highly visible executive leadership opportunity for a strategic, yet hands-on finance executive who thrives at the intersection of financial leadership, regulatory oversight, and organizational growth. Reporting directly to the President & CEO and partnering closely with the Board of Directors, the CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping the institution's financial future while helping execute strategic initiatives that strengthen both the organization and the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee all accounting and financial reporting for the bank and holding company.
- Partner with HR and other executive leaders to identify critical skills, build internal capabilities, and ensure the Finance organization is adequately staffed and prepared to meet future strategic and regulatory needs.
- Ensure timely completion and filing of call reports and other regulatory filings with the FDIC, Federal Reserve, and state banking authorities.
Asset-Liability and Treasury Management
- Manage the bank’s liquidity, interest rate risk, and overall balance sheet.
- Manage the bank’s investments including pledging of securities for public deposits, funding strategies, and interest margin optimization.
- Actively participate in the Investment Committee and prepare and provide the reporting for review and approval by the committee members.
Budgeting and Expense Management
- Coordination with senior management and the preparation of annual budgeting and forecasting for the bank and holding company.
- Work with department heads to monitor expenses and identify cost savings opportunities.
- Monitor financial performance and variances and improve profitability metrics.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Oversight
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and internal controls related to finance and treasury operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of banking regulations affecting capital, liquidity, and financial reporting
- Completion of periodic capital stress testing in alignment with regulatory expectations and internal risk limits preparing scenario-based analyses to evaluate capital adequacy under various economic conditions and support capital planning decisions.
- Comply with all federal and state regulations and rules impacting this position, meet all risk and compliance obligations, including the completion of required training.
Operational Support and Strategic Implementation
- Support the CEO in executing strategic initiatives and M&A related activities.
- Manage the accounting and reporting for stock-based compensation, including restricted stock awards, ensuring accurate valuation, expense recognition, and financial statement disclosure.
- Communicate with shareholders and work directly with the holding company’s stock transfer agent.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred; MBA a plus)
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience within a bank or financial institution
- Deep knowledge of banking regulations, GAAP, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Prior experience managing federal funding programs (e.g., CDFI Fund) and related compliance/reporting preferred
- Strong analytical, strategic, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with Board members and regulators
