As the group embarks on an ambitious five-year growth roadmap - anchored by capital deployment in new real estate zones, expansion of high-margin industrial clusters, and digitization of financial platforms - it seeks a high-calibre finance executive to lead and scale its financial operations in this pivotal region.
Position Summary
The Regional Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Asia and Oceania will serve as the senior-most finance leader across the group’s operations in Asia and Oceania. This executive will be a key member of the regional executive leadership team and serve as a strategic thought partner to the Regional CEO, Group CFO, and business unit heads. The successful candidate will play a critical role in translating global strategy into regional execution, ensuring robust financial governance, performance optimization, and capital discipline across business lines.
With accountability for a complex, multi-country P&L and consolidated regional revenue of over GBP 2.7 billion, the Regional CFO will lead all aspects of financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, investment evaluation, M&A support, tax and treasury, audit and compliance, and digital finance transformation. The role requires a finance leader who combines technical expertise with commercial instinct, and who brings proven leadership experience within fast-evolving operating environments.
This is a strategic and operational role requiring broad business understanding, the ability to influence cross-functional and cross-border teams, and the foresight to anticipate market shifts. The Regional CFO will be instrumental in enabling the group to scale sustainably, optimize capital deployment, and deliver long-term shareholder value across Asia and Oceania.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Finance & Business Partnership
- Act as a key strategic advisor to the Regional CEO and business unit leaders, providing insight, challenge, and financial rigor to strategic initiatives.
- Lead the regional financial planning, budgeting, and long-range forecasting processes to support group and regional growth strategies.
- Embed a performance-driven culture by integrating financial KPIs with operational and strategic goals across businesses.
- Identify emerging business risks and opportunities, and recommend proactive financial strategies for value protection and enhancement.
- Ensure alignment of finance strategy with broader group transformation and investor expectations.
2. Financial Reporting, Governance & Compliance
- Oversee accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions in Asia and Oceania.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS and local statutory requirements, working closely with group reporting and external auditors.
- Maintain a robust internal control environment, including risk mitigation, policy enforcement, and control testing.
- Lead internal and external audit processes with a focus on transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with ESG and sustainability reporting requirements where applicable.
3. Capital Management, Treasury & Liquidity
- Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital optimization, and intercompany funding requirements across the region.
- Maintain strong banking relationships to secure local credit lines, trade finance, and transactional banking services.
- Collaborate with Group Treasury to align on regional funding strategies, FX risk management, and debt servicing.
- Lead capital efficiency programs, including lease financing, asset recycling, and debt restructuring where appropriate.
4. Investment Governance & M&A Execution
- Drive the financial evaluation and due diligence of strategic investments, joint ventures, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Collaborate with legal, strategy, and operational teams to assess risk, synergies, and integration plans.
- Serve on investment committees and provide financial governance across major capex, land banking, or partnership projects.
- Track post-investment performance and provide clear visibility to the Group CFO and Board on capital deployment outcomes.
5. Finance Transformation & Digital Enablement
- Champion finance modernization, including automation, analytics, and ERP system enhancements across the region.
- Deploy shared service models and finance centers of excellence to drive efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Implement agile reporting frameworks and dashboards to support real-time business decision-making.
- Lead upskilling programs and change management initiatives to future-proof the finance workforce.
6. Risk Management & Regulatory Stewardship
- Ensure the group’s risk management framework is fully localized and integrated within regional operations.
- Monitor market, credit, liquidity, and operational risks with early warning systems and mitigation protocols.
- Engage regularly with regulators, tax authorities, and other agencies to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
- Support governance teams on entity structuring, transfer pricing, and cross-border tax strategies.
7. Leadership, Team Development & Succession
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing regional finance organization with clear accountability and development pathways.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, ethical leadership, and professional excellence.
- Collaborate with HR and Group Finance on talent succession planning and capability mapping.
- Serve as a mentor and sponsor to emerging finance leaders across the region.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
- CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent chartered qualification is required.
- MBA or Master’s in Finance or Strategy is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of finance leadership, including multi-country experience in Asia-Pacific.
- Track record of success as a regional/divisional CFO or Group Controller in a listed or multinational environment.
- Direct experience in at least one of the following: Real Estate Investment, Manufacturing, Financial Services & Technologies.
- Familiarity with corporate governance, capital markets, and investor reporting standards.
- Strong exposure to ERP implementation, FP&A transformation, and M&A.
