Job Title - Chief Finance Officer
Reporting to : MD of VMPL & Board of VMPL
Number of immediate subordinates- 3-4

1. Prior experience in a mid-sized or promoter-driven business environment is highly valued.
2. Must have handled Taxation, Audits, Accounting, Budgeting & Variance Analysis, MIS & Business Analysis, Banking & Fund Raising, Vendor & Supplier Management, Customer Receivables, Inventory Control, Working Capital Management, Cash Flow analysis.
3. Should have handled a team of F&A professionals below him for Job delegation, empowerment & Management.
4. Should have thorough knowledge of Finance , Accounts, Costing and Compliances
5. Excellent Communication, Strong in Accounting s/w & MS Office
Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
· Drive the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business goals.
· Advise promoters and the CEO on financial planning, capital structure, and business risks.
· Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning processes.
· Provide insights on expansion, capacity planning, product costing, and capital allocation.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
· Oversee detailed analysis of business performance (product, plant, geography-wise).
· Monitor key financial metrics (e.g., margins, working capital, return on investment).
· Deliver MIS reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
- MIS for Management Review including product costing, Yield, Inventory, Receivables & Payables, Working Capital, Cash Flow
- Variance Analysis between Budget vs Plan vs Actuals (Fixed & Variable Costs, Expenses, Logistics & Transportation, Bank Charges, Travel, Over Heads, Salaries & Wages, Power & Utilities etc.)
- Sales Analysis (Domestic Tonnage, Average Sales Price, Export Tonnage, Average Sales Price) product and location wise
3. Costing & Profitability Management
· Implement cost control systems, including standard and actual costing in manufacturing.
· Evaluate unit economics, product-line profitability, and pricing strategy.
· Monitor product-wise, plant-wise, and customer-wise profitability.
· Partner with operations to drive manufacturing efficiency and cost optimization.
4. Accounting, Audit & Compliance
· Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind-AS).
· Consolidation of Accounts (Preparing P&L and Balance Sheet) for each entity and consolidated for the group companies
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements (Mines Act, GST, Income Tax, etc.).
· Manage audits (statutory, internal, cost) and ensure risk controls are in place.
· Navigate legacy practices and build systems for greater transparency and financial discipline.
· Manage statutory audits, internal audits, and interface with auditors.
· Ensure adherence to all legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
5. Treasury & Working Capital Management
· Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships.
· Optimize working capital cycles (inventory, payables, receivables).
· Manage funding requirements and debt structuring in alignment with business needs.
· Banking - (Loan Applications, preparing CMA Data, DP – Stock statements, Quarterly MIS for Banks, Loan Disbursement, Negotiating Interest Rates & other Bank charges on a regular basis)
6. Risk Management & Governance
· Strengthen accounting systems, introduce dashboards and reports for decision-making.
· Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
· Establish and enforce internal controls, approval matrices, and governance frameworks.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory laws and regulations.
· Lead ERP implementation or enhancement (Tally, SAP B1, or industry-relevant solutions).
· Build data-driven culture while respecting the family-run work environment.
7. Team Development & Leadership
· Lead and develop a high-performing finance team across all areas of F&A e.g. accounts, costing, taxation, compliances
· Foster cross-functional collaboration with operations, procurement, HR, and sales, Knowledge & Experience
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Chartered Accountant (CA). CFA mandatory; MBA (Finance) or CMA preferred.
- 12–20 years of experience, preferably with exposure to minerals, mining, or manufacturing.
- Capable of handling multiple legal entities under VMPL holding grp
· Strong knowledge of business processes
· Competency in MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
