About the Role
We’re looking for a commercially minded, hands-on Part-Time CFO to help shape the financial backbone of our growing business. This newly created role is ideal for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys building structure, driving insight, and enabling smart decision-making.
You'll report to our Head of Internal Services, collaborate with our Group Finance team, and Board Level Directors and be the go-to expert for all local financial matters. From owning the month-end close to implementing internal controls and delivering strategic insights, this is a rare opportunity to make a big impact with flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End & Financial Close
- Prepare journals, reconcile accounts, and deliver timely P&L and balance sheet reporting
- Oversee treasury management and ensure ledger accuracy
- Streamline processes to reduce month-end timelines
- Ensure accuracy of the General Ledger and collaborate with he Financial Controller.
Financial Controls & Compliance
- Design and implement internal controls and localised accounting policies
- Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, banks and tax authorities
Management Reporting & Analysis
- Develop standardised monthly management reports, dashboards and KPI tracking
- Provide insightful variance analysis and financial commentary to inform strategic decisions to management and the Board
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis e.g. profitability of a client or service, salary reviews, dividend payments, Business development and account management financial support
- Provide commercial analysis eg pricing and contract terms, review of potential investments
- Inform key decisions with financial data
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead and prepare the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts.
- Work alongside the business to translate operational plans into financial forecasts
- Perform medium term balance sheet and cash flow forecasting
- Perform short term liquidity forecasting
Process & Systems Improvement
- Identify automation opportunities and drive finance system/ process improvements
- Recommend and, where appropriate, configure finance systems or tools to support scalable growth
Ad Hoc Projects & Strategic Support
- Partner with Group Finance on complex accounting transactions, intercompany reconciliations, and policy interpretations
- Drive finance-related initiatives—from cost-saving reviews to ad hoc analysis—that bolster our financial health
What We’re Looking For
Professional Background
- CA, ACA or equivalent qualification
- 5+ years’ hands-on finance experience (ideally in a growing or mid-sized company)
- Expertise in UK GAAP/IFRS and local compliance requirements
Technical & Analytical Strength
- Solid month-end, budgeting, and reporting experience
- Strong Excel skills; experience with accounting/ERP systems a plus
- Sharp attention to detail and a proactive mindset
- Ability to translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations
People & Communication Skills
- Comfortable influencing non-finance stakeholders
- Experienced in dealing with auditors, banks, and tax authorities
Self-Starter Attitude
- Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Demonstrated ability to build upon processes and drive change
Working Arrangements
- Part-Time: 3 days per week (flexible scheduling, may require some evening calls on an adhoc basis, due to our Head Office being based in New Zealand)
- Location: On-site preferred for key periods and induction (with hybrid flexibility)
- Duration: Permanent position, with potential to evolve into a full-time CFO role
