Job Overview: The Manager of Business Operations and Technology is an integral role at Podium. Working within an Operations team of 5, this role will oversee the development and implementation of technical solutions to enhance the effectiveness of the business, serving as an operational thought leader and subject matter expert. This role demands a strong leader with a solid understanding of business processes and automation technologies, combined with a passion for driving innovation. Building cross-functional relationships is a critical component of this role, with ongoing collaboration at all levels. A successful Manager will take an engaged and consultative approach with internal stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, and translate complex tactical needs into executable plans that align to business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Own quarterly operational projects, assuming responsibility for successful end to end development and execution.
- Projects will be defined, prioritized, and scoped via a quarterly planning process
- Variation in size, level of effort, and levels of technical complexity, allows development of a wide range of expertise
- Topics can range from efficiency initiatives, building automations for improved internal operations, to implementation of 3rd party products to relieve a business pain point, to ensuring underlying data architecture evolves as the company does.
- Act as a strategic consultant to business constituents throughout the organization: advising on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology capabilities will be a key part of your role
- Active collaboration with your Operations peers and leadership through all stages of project discovery and refinement through implementation. Team effort mindset!
- Agile-principled project management, understanding of Product Management and Engineering roles, intersections, cadences and ceremonies
- Lead architecture direction to maximize technical investment
- Contribute to our operational roadmap, ensuring it meets business needs, compliance requirements, and accounts for evolving product and feature capabilities
- Develop enablement plans, champion adoption and affinity for workflows and internal technology, with the goal of continuous improvement
- Effective communication and engagement with both in-house and external Product, Project, Engineering, Production, Support, Marketing, HR and Finance teams.
- Steer change management initiatives, aiming to minimize risk and disruption while maximizing ROI
- Solidify internal narratives, produce workflow diagrams and presentations and lead trainings for internal teams in support of holistic comprehension
- Contribute to the evolution of Operational team SOPs
- Participate in ongoing training and skills-building to sharpen your expertise, and research to deepen your understanding of the business landscape and market dynamics
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years professional work experience in Business Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or Technical Product Management
- Solid experience designing and implementing business process automation
- Experience modeling Business Architecture scenarios
- Experience with API development, database applications, software integrations, and translating technical specs
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, comfortable with data-driven approaches
- Anticipate issues before they occur, spot gaps and build bridges
- Growth mindset and an intrinsic desire to solve problems
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexible, energized by collaboration and human-centered leadership
- Adept communicator, with experience creating and presenting cohesive decks or diagrams that tell a story
- Experience in a high-growth tech or similar fast-paced environment
- Bonus if you have any of the following certifications or platform experience (or prior work experience)
- Project Mgmt: SAFe, PMP, CAPM, or PMI-ACP DBA
- Systems Certifications: JIRA, AWS, Airtable, Tableau, Box, Lucid
- CRM & IT System Administration
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based work setting.
- Must be able to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from our office in El Segundo.
- Standard work hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, however this role requires flexibility to accommodate team timezones
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to walk, stand, and move around the office as needed.
