Based in Mesa, Arizona, Our Client is looking for a strategic and business-oriented finance leader who can balance functional excellence with the strategic thinking required to serve as a true business partner and people leader.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Our Client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as a key member of its executive team. This role will be based at corporate headquarters in Mesa, AZ, and will report the President and CEO. The CFO will lead all aspects of the Company's financial strategy and operations, with overall responsibility for financial planning and analysis, accounting, reporting, internal controls, compliance, auditing, tax, treasury, and risk management.
A key focus area will be serving as a strategic business partner to organizational leadership and enhancing the operational infrastructure to preserve company assets and support platform growth and key investments. This will include implementing suitable systems, processes, and controls, utilizing best practices in financial technology and reporting, further, to accelerate the business's strategic and operational goals. The CFO will also play a critical role as the organization evaluates new potential acquisitions and pursues organic growth opportunities. Additionally, the CFO will work directly with the various companies to further integrate and optimize business performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The CFO will play a key role in assisting the CEO in driving the execution for overall strategic growth through the following areas of focus:
- Develop efficient tools, systems, and processes to provide timely, critical financial and operational analysis, as well as reliable forecasts.
- Create and manage the annual and long-term business plans with leadership, including the financial I/S, department budgets, B/S, Cash Flow, major cash outlays, CapEx, and overall expense management.
- Maintain an effective cost-accounting system by reviewing and updating as needed to ensure proper cost reporting and management for each product line.
- Provide monthly financial analysis and quarterly board-deck updates on financial performance.
- Optimize performance metrics that support the Company’s strategic goals.
- Responsible for the proper processes, systems, and personnel to develop accurate cash forecasts and sound cash management practices.
- Manage and develop the accounting team so they provide business support, best practices, and value-added services across the Company.
- Assist executives with analyzing and financially presenting business development opportunities.
- Represent the Company to owners and financial partners, including financial institutions, auditors, etc.
- Support the corporate office by preparing schedules for the federal tax return.
- Prepare covenant calculations for bank reporting and manage all banking relationships.
- Coordinate authorized CapEx requests and CapEx implementation financial progress reporting.
- Partner with external auditors and ensure the annual audit is conducted efficiently and on time.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and maintain appropriate internal controls, financial and accounting policies, and procedures.
- S/he has a strong business acumen and commercial drive and is experienced in establishing business partnerships.
- The new CFO will have a strong bias toward execution, an edge in making quick, sound decisions, and excellent communication skills.
Risk Management
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the Company's risk profile.
- Monitor all open financial and risk issues involving the Company.
- Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
- Ensure that the Company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
- Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
- Maintain relations with the Company’s bank and key contacts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and manufacturing.
- Aggregate/mining industries experience is a plus.
- Experience with cost accounting.
- Experience with financial reporting and FP&A capabilities, including driver-based forecasting, scenario analysis, and cash flow modeling tied to operational metrics.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing best-in-class management reporting.
- Understanding of treasury and tax disciplines, including cash management, banking relationships, and debt covenant compliance/reporting.
- BBA in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus.
- NetSuite ERP experience is a plus.
