CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Location: Lae, Papua New Guinea | Transport & Logistics
A confidential opportunity is available for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join a large, established transport and logistics organisation based in Lae, Papua New Guinea.
Operating within an asset-intensive and operationally complex environment, the organisation is entering an important period of growth, investment and transformation.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Managing Director and Board, the CFO will become the organisation’s principal financial adviser and a key member of the executive leadership team.
This is more than a traditional financial controllership role. The successful candidate will provide forward-looking commercial advice, strengthen financial performance and support major investment and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial strategy, planning, budgeting and forecasting.
- Improve management and Board reporting.
- Develop financial and operational performance dashboards.
- Provide analysis across asset utilisation, profitability, costs and working capital.
- Evaluate major capital investments and asset acquisitions.
- Manage banking relationships, funding facilities and lender reporting.
- Strengthen cash flow, liquidity and treasury management.
- Improve financial controls, governance, risk and compliance.
- Lead the implementation of improved ERP and reporting systems.
- Mentor and develop a multicultural finance team.
- Build a commercially focused finance function that partners effectively with the wider business
About You
You will be a commercially astute finance executive with the maturity and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and support strategic decision-making.
You will ideally possess:
- CPA, CA or equivalent qualification.
- Significant CFO, Finance Director or senior finance leadership experience.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial-modelling capability.
- Experience managing banks, lenders and funding facilities.
- Capital-investment and asset-evaluation experience.
- ERP implementation or finance-transformation experience.
- Strong governance, risk and financial-control capability.
- Proven experience leading and developing finance teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- High personal integrity and professional credibility
Industry Experience Experience within transport, logistics, freight, supply chain, ports, shipping, aviation, infrastructure or another asset-intensive industry would be highly regarded.
Direct industry experience is advantageous but not essential. The priority is identifying a commercially capable CFO who can quickly understand a complex operational business.
Previous PNG experience would be advantageous, although candidates with experience in other emerging, remote or culturally diverse markets will also be considered.
