Overview - Fractional CFO – Restaurant Industry
We are seeking an experienced Fractional CFO with deep expertise in the restaurant sector. This role is focused on strategic financial leadership, helping our business navigate growth, manage risk, and stay ahead of industry trends while leveraging the financial tools we already have in place. You’ll leverage QuickBooks, MarginEdge, and Power BI to deliver clear, data-driven insights that help leadership make informed decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee financial strategy, forecasting, and budgeting tailored to the restaurant industry.
- Monitor and advise on cash flow management, cost controls, and profitability drivers across food, beverage, labor, and overhead.
- Provide insightful financial analysis to guide pricing strategies, menu engineering, and inventory management.
- Benchmark against restaurant industry standards to identify opportunities for improved performance.
- Support fundraising, investor relations, and capital allocation for expansion and growth initiatives.
- Partner with ownership and management to ensure financial agility and resilience in a rapidly changing environment.
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership and operations teams.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a CFO, Controller, or senior financial leader in the restaurant, hospitality, or food & beverage industry.
- Strong understanding of restaurant P&Ls, prime costs, labor models, and unit economics.
- Skilled in financial planning tools (QuickBooks, Margin Edge, Power BI, or equivalents).
- Ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide proactive recommendations.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with operators, owners, and investors.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics (minimum baseline).
- MBA or Master’s in Finance/Accounting is highly preferred
Additional Training/Skills
- Proficiency in tools like QuickBooks, Margin Edge, and Power BI (since you use them).
- Strong background in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting specific to multi-location businesses.
- Experience with capital raising, investor reporting, and scaling operations is highly beneficial.
Flexible and agile mindset, with experience advising multi-unit or growing restaurant groups preferred.
