Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Fairfield County, CT (onsite preferred)
Compensation: $180-200k (commensurate with experience + executive benefits package)

About the Opportunity

A rapidly growing luxury real estate and construction firm is seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. With over $60M in annual revenue and more than 30 active custom home and multifamily projects — including $8–20M luxury builds — this organization is positioned for $100M+ in upcoming development and expansion.

The ideal candidate brings both executive-level financial leadership and operational depth, thriving in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment. This is a pivotal role working directly with ownership, investors, and project leaders to drive continued growth, financial integrity, and strategic decision-making.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Direct Reports: Two accounting staff

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting and finance operations, including budgeting, forecasting, general ledger management, and cash flow oversight.
Partner directly with the CEO and executive team to develop financial strategies supporting $100M+ in new construction and real estate development.
Manage banking and investor relationships, including communications with institutional partners and high-net-worth individuals.
Build and maintain Pro-Forma models for multiple concurrent developments and funds.
Provide financial analysis and guidance to project managers overseeing luxury custom home and multifamily projects.
Oversee and mentor a small accounting team (currently two direct reports).
Serve as a key liaison with external accountants, auditors, and lending institutions.
Establish financial controls, reporting processes, and systems to support scaling operations.
Step in as needed to problem-solve and maintain momentum in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership, with at least 5 years in a CFO, VP Finance, or Controller-level role.
Strong understanding of construction or real estate development accounting , including job cost, project budgeting, and Pro-Forma modeling.
Proven success managing relationships with banks, investors, and high-net-worth clientele .
Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in a lean, fast-moving organization.
Exceptional communication skills — confident interfacing with executive leadership, investors, and field operations teams.
CPA designation preferred but not required .
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA a plus).
