Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer, you will be a key member of the senior executive team, shaping the financial strategy that will fuel our disruption of the life insurance and annuity space. What You'll Do
- As the Chief Financial Officer, you will be the strategic financial partner to the executive team in a fully remote environment. Your responsibilities will be broad and impactful, including:
- Fundraising & Capital Strategy: Lead the charge on all aspects of our next capital raise. You will own the financial model, create the narrative for investors (VCs, insurance carriers, etc.), manage investor relations, and run a tight due diligence process to secure the funding that will define our future.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Build and lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking. Your analysis and insights will be the foundation of our strategic decision-making.
- Accounting & Operations: Oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, month-end close, audit, and tax. You will implement and scale the financial systems and controls needed for a fast-growing, distributed company.
- M&A and Strategic Deals: Support the executive team in evaluating and executing M&A opportunities and other strategic partnerships. You will contribute to financial modeling, due diligence, and negotiations to help us craft advantageous deals.
- Strategic Leadership: Serve as a true business partner to the executive team, providing insightful financial guidance on everything from new business ventures and pricing models to long-term corporate strategy.
Who You Are
We are looking for a candidate who is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in high-growth environments.
- Remote Leader: You have a proven ability to thrive in a fully remote environment and have experience building, managing, and mentoring high-performing teams in a virtual setting.
- Startup Veteran: You have 8+ years of progressive financial experience, with significant time spent in a leadership role within a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment. You know how to operate with lean resources.
- Annuity & Insurance Expert: You possess a deep understanding of the life insurance and annuity industry, including its products, distribution channels, and financial nuances. This is a non-negotiable.
- Proven Fundraiser: You have direct, hands-on experience leading or supporting successful fundraising rounds. You can confidently build a financial narrative that resonates with venture capital, private equity, and strategic corporate investors.
- Deal-Making Aptitude: You have exposure to M&A processes and possess strong analytical skills for valuation and due diligence. Experience or a strong aptitude for deal structuring and negotiation is highly valued.
- Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. A CPA or MBA is preferred.
