A rapidly growing private investment platform is seeking a Melbourne-based Chief Financial Officer to lead the establishment and expansion of finance, reporting, governance, and administrative capabilities across multiple businesses and asset classes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build the finance function from first principles, including reporting systems, controls, treasury frameworks, and statutory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Lead capital management reporting and governance in preparation for future market transactions.
- Establish policies, audit readiness, and financial infrastructure to support growth.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, valuation modelling, and investment decision-making.
- Manage external advisors, including bankers, auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
- Recruit and develop the internal finance team and oversee finance leadership across jurisdictions.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record in senior finance roles within investment-focused environments, with direct private equity/alternatives experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build finance infrastructure from first principles.
- Experience implementing and delivering month-end close across a portfolio of companies, including consolidated reporting with analysis.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, tax, and investment frameworks.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise workload, and adapt to shifting strategic priorities.
- Ownership mindset with a self-starting, proactive approach.
- Commercial acumen with strong analytical and strategic thinking.
- Tech-savvy, with experience driving finance transformation through systems, BI, and AI/automation.
- Comfortable working directly with a founder/owner environment.
- Thrives in a build-stage, multi-asset platform structure.
