About Fenix: Fenix is an innovative, mission-driven startup developing an equity crowdfunding platform to channel global capital into Ukraine's economic recovery. We are currently in the pre-registration phase, actively building our regulatory framework (aligned with ECSPR), refining our business plan, and securing initial partnerships. The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Founding Head of Finance / CFO to join our core team. This is a unique, hands-on opportunity to build the entire financial function of a purpose-driven fintech startup from the ground up. You will be a critical strategic partner, responsible for shaping our financial strategy, supporting fundraising efforts, and establishing robust financial operations from day one. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong startup mindset, a deep understanding of financial regulations, and a passion for making a tangible impact on Ukraine's future.
What You'll Do:
Financial Strategy & Planning (Pre-Launch & Early Stage): Collaborate directly with the Founder to refine and manage Fenix's core financial model, projections, and budget for pre-launch and initial operational phases. Develop and implement financial strategies to support platform registration, regulatory compliance, and initial operational setup. Provide critical financial insights to guide strategic decisions, particularly around cost management and revenue generation in a pre-revenue environment.
Fundraising Support: Play a key role in preparing all financial documentation for grant applications and early-stage seed funding rounds. Assist in developing investor decks and presenting financial aspects to potential funders. Help identify and engage with potential grant agencies, impact investors, and early-stage VCs.
Regulatory & Compliance Foundation: Work closely with legal and compliance advisors to ensure Fenix's financial operations are fully compliant with ECSPR and relevant financial regulations from inception. Establish foundational financial controls, policies, and procedures. Oversee initial financial reporting and tax considerations for a pre-revenue entity.
Operational Finance (Building from Scratch): Design and implement initial financial systems and processes (e.g., accounting software selection, expense management, basic treasury functions). Manage early-stage cash flow and financial resources with extreme prudence. Support the selection and integration of payment processing and escrow solutions.
Business Performance & Analytics: Help define and track early-stage financial and operational KPIs to monitor progress towards launch and funding milestones. Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and partnership discussions.
What You'll Bring:
Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in finance roles, with a strong background in financial modeling, planning, and analysis. Crucially, experience in early-stage startups, fintech, or financial services is highly preferred. Familiarity with regulatory environments (e.g., financial services, crowdfunding, or investment platforms) is a significant advantage. Experience in grant writing or securing early-stage funding is a plus.
Skills: Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets. Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Ability to build financial processes and systems from the ground up. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex financial concepts clearly.
