Job Summary:
As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the CEO/President and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as oversee the information technology and marketing departments of Morningside.
Essential Functions
- Works in partnership with the CEO/President and executive management to create strategic long-range plans and implement new processes and approaches to achieve financial objectives and outcomes that will contribute to the quality of living and well-being of residents, patients, and staff.
- Direct, oversee and provide strategic insight to the Finance, Information Technology and Marketing departments/functions of the organization.
- Ensure timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
- Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with executive management to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
- Working with the CEO/President and executive management, responsible for the development of annual operating and capital budgets for communities, agencies, and overall organization.
- Advise executive management with the financial implications of business activities.
- Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company.
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Attends all executive management meetings and the Board of Directors meetings, including subcommittees; and prepares periodic as well as special reports for the CEO/President.

- Employee is required to understand OSHA's Safety Data Sheets (SDS), where this information is located and what action needs to be taken when an accident occurs with chemicals.
- Employee is required to know the agency exposure control plan, where this information is located and what action needs to be taken when an accident occurs with blood or other infectious materials.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Management is required.
- Training and Experience: At least 7 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles and managing a team, preferably in senior living, aging services.
- Certification/Licenses: CPA or MBA preferred.
- Job Knowledge: General knowledge and understanding of daily financial issues and processes of retirement, assisted living, nursing home, and home health. Good awareness and grasp of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for financial and tax reporting. Understanding of Medicaid and Medicare. Strong financial and budgeting skills. Able leadership and supervisory talents. Deep understanding and compassion for needs of older adults.

Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted, ventilated building. Occasional travel is required between community locations to include but not limited to travel to conferences, events, and meetings.
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, lifting-up to 30 lbs., handling, fingering, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, overhead, reaching forward, reaching low, stooping, kneeling, climbing, crouching, twisting motion, and balancing. Corrected vision to 20/20 and hearing to normal range.
Special Demands: Must have discretion in judgment, tact, and courtesy in dealing with residents, employees and general public. Must model and support the organization’s mission and core anchors as a key leader for the organization
Job Relationship: Supervised by: Chief Executive Officer/President. Supervision of direct reports required.
