About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, accounting, and tax functions for SBG Inc. and all companies operating under SBG. This role provides centralized financial leadership across multiple entities, ensuring consistency, accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment.
The CFO works closely with ownership, executive leadership, and company managers to support decision-making, improve profitability, manage risk, and guide long-term growth across the entire group.
Responsibilities:
Group Financial Leadership & Strategy
Performance Management, KPIs & Financial Planning
- Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) at the group and entity level to measure financial health, operational efficiency, and profitability.
- Design and maintain management dashboards and reporting tools to provide timely, actionable insights to ownership and executive leadership.
- Lead the annual budgeting process across all entities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational plans.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, including rolling forecasts, variance analysis, and scenario modeling, to support proactive strategic decision-making.
- Analyze budget-to-actual results, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to improve performance.
- Partner with business leaders to translate KPIs and financial results into clear recommendations and strategic actions.
- Establish financial targets and accountability frameworks to drive performance, cost control, and sustainable growth.
- Serve as the senior financial leader for SBG Inc. and all subsidiary and affiliated companies.
- Develop and implement (with assistance from the department managers), group-wide financial strategies, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow planning.
- Provide strategic financial advice to ownership and executive leadership on growth initiatives, restructuring, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Analyze entity-level and consolidated financial performance, identifying risks, trends, and opportunities.
Accounting & Financial Oversight
- Oversee all accounting operations across the SBG group, ensuring consistent policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for each entity and on a consolidated basis.
- Review and approve financial statements, internal reports, and management dashboards.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial governance.
Multi-Entity & Operational Support
- Support company managers and leadership with financial analysis, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
- Standardize accounting systems, reporting frameworks, and workflows across all companies.
- Oversee intercompany transactions, cost allocations, and transfer pricing considerations where applicable.
- Improve efficiencies through process optimization and technology adoption.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor staff across the SBG group.
- Provide guidance to Directors, Managers, and external advisors.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Support staffing, training, and performance management within the finance function.
Risk Management & Governance
- Identify financial, tax, and operational risks across the group and implement mitigation strategies.
- Oversee financial aspects of contracts, financing arrangements, and insurance coverage.
- Ensure ethical financial practices and strong governance standards across all entities.
Job Requirements:
- CPA designation preferred (CMA, CGA, or equivalent experience considered).
- Minimum 5 years experience in Canadian public accounting and/or senior financial leadership.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple entities or a group structure.
- Strong expertise in Canadian tax (T1, T2, T3, T5, GST), and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in CaseWare, QuickBooks Online, Profile, and advanced Excel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic decision-making skills.
- Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business insights.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (some overtime required)
Compensation: Salary and performance-based incentives, commensurate with experience
