The Sinneave Family Foundation is a Canadian charitable organization focused on improving the quality of life for Autistic individuals and their families. Sinneave works at a systems level across education, employment, and housing, collaborating with partners to create meaningful, long-term impact.
A key member of the senior leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports to the President & CEO and works closely with a highly engaged volunteer Board of Directors, including the Audit & Risk Committee and the Investment Committee. The CFO leads the Foundation’s financial stewardship and corporate services functions, including finance, investment oversight, enterprise risk management, information technology oversight, human resources administration, policy development, and contract and facilities management.
The CFO is responsible for ensuring the organization uses its resources responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with its mission. This includes overseeing day-to-day financial operations such as budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, and audit processes. The role also includes managing cash flow, overseeing investments in partnership with external advisors, ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards, and supporting long-term financial planning.
In addition, the CFO supports complex, multi-partner funded initiatives, including government-funded projects, and acts as the primary financial contact for auditors, funders, and external partners. The CFO assumes the responsibilities of the President & CEO in their absence.
The successful candidate will hold a CPA designation and bring significant senior financial leadership experience, ideally within a not-for-profit, charitable, public sector, or mission-driven organization. Experience with investment oversight, governance reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audits, and risk management is essential. Comfort working in a relatively small organization, where the role includes both strategic leadership and hands-on operational involvement, will be important.
As a leader, you are thoughtful, reliable, and collaborative. You communicate clearly and respectfully, explain complex financial information in accessible ways, and value structure, accuracy, and follow-through. You approach decision-making with care, use evidence to guide your work, and remain calm and solutions-focused when navigating complexity or change. You support others through clear expectations, consistency, and a commitment to an inclusive workplace culture.
This is an opportunity to apply your financial expertise in service of a mission-driven organization that values accountability, inclusion, and meaningful impact.
