RVA is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to succeed our current VP Finance who will be retiring. The successful candidate will exemplify an entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated exceptional analytical, strategic planning/thinking and communication skills. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report to the Executive Leadership team responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization. This role ensures the company’s financial health, supports strategic growth, and provides insights that drive business decisions. The CFO will lead financial planning, risk management, compliance, and shareholder relations while building a high-performing finance team. The successful candidate will be a seasoned strategist with demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing key accounting practices and controls.

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic management and oversight of the accounting and finance function and systems including but not limited to overseeing the application of appropriate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for accurate financial reporting and financial systems implementations, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Prepare, analyze and monitor financial forecasts and budgets and make strategic recommendations to the senior executive team.
- Assess and evaluate company financial performance with regard to long-term operational goals. Recommend improvements to ensure the integrity of national and regional financial information/success.
- Prepare and present monthly/quarterly financial reports including P/L, cash flow, accounts receivable and other metrics.
- Oversee billing and accounts receivable, providing guidance relating to the collection process. Manage accounts payables to ensure cash flow is appropriate and sustainable.
- Manage or oversee the relationship with independent accountants including the annual year-end accounting process. Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all year-end reporting.
- Oversee, Lead and develop the finance team to support engineering delivery and operational excellence
- Ensure the continual development of financial systems, internal controls and processes that support the needs of the organization
- Drive technology adoption (ERP systems, cloud) and digital transformation.
- Provide financial insights to optimize project margins and resource utilization.
- Manage and retain relationships with various vendors and clients. Select and engage consultants, auditors, and other key vendors necessary to carry out responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and timely delivery of any regulated filings such as provincial and federal taxes.
- Manage and oversee the Employee Share Ownership Plan.
- Identify and manage business risks and insurance requirements working closely with in-house counsel
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in accounting or finance including a minimum of five years in a management role. Candidates should have held positions of increasing responsibility within an accounting department such as Vice President of Finance, Director of Accounting, or Controller.
- Previous accounting leadership experience in an architectural, engineering or construction industry is an asset.
- Must be a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in good standing.
- Expertise in advanced accounting, financial modeling, forecasting, and project accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, Federal and Provincial regulatory compliance.
- Previous experience with implementing or using Deltek Vantagepoint software is an asset
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen.
- Public accounting experience is an asset
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions
