About the Company
We are a growing real estate development and homebuilding company with an expanding pipeline of land development, horizontal infrastructure, and vertical residential construction projects. As we scale operations, capital deployment, and project volume, we are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the company’s financial strategy, systems, and capital management.
This is a hands-on executive role requiring direct experience in development and homebuilding—not a purely corporate or institutional finance background.
Role Overview
The CFO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing financial strategy, capital structuring, project finance, risk management, and reporting across all development and homebuilding activities.
The ideal candidate understands how money flows through land acquisition, entitlement, development, construction, and disposition, and can build scalable financial infrastructure to support growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Lead company-wide financial strategy aligned with growth objectives
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team
- Provide financial insight to support land acquisitions, development decisions, and construction pacing
- Build and lead the finance and accounting team
Development & Project Finance
- Oversee project-level budgets, pro formas, and financial feasibility analysis
- Manage cash flow across multiple developments and construction projects
- Review and approve draw schedules, loan compliance, and lender reporting
- Monitor project performance against budgets and schedules
Capital Markets & Financing
- Manage relationships with lenders, and capital partners
- Structure and negotiate construction and development loans.
- Ensure compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements
Accounting, Controls & Reporting
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Implement scalable systems, processes, and financial controls
Risk Management & Forecasting
- Identify financial risks across land, construction, and market cycles
- Lead forecasting, scenario modeling, and stress testing
- Support pricing strategy and margin optimization
- Guide strategic decisions during market shifts
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Direct experience in real estate development and/or homebuilding (required)
- Proven understanding of:
- Development and construction pro formas
- Project-based accounting
- Draw processes and lender compliance
- Land acquisition and entitlement economics
- Experience working with banks, private lenders, and equity partners
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
- CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred
Preferred Experience
- Experience with residential subdivisions, master-planned communities, or multifamily development
- Experience in vertically integrated builder-developer environments
- Familiarity with lot delivery schedules, absorption modeling, and construction cash flow
- Experience scaling finance operations in a growth-stage company
