Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Remote UK

The Role
As our CFO, you will be a strategic co-pilot to the CEO. You will own the financial architecture of the business during a period of rapid expansion, ensuring that our growth is sustainable, data-driven, and highly efficient.
You will be responsible for professionalising our finance function, leading our regulatory compliance under the FCA, and leveraging technology to ensure we scale our impact without a linear increase in overheads.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Partner with the CEO and Board to operationalise our long-term strategy. You will translate our vision into robust operating models and clear financial roadmaps.
- Commercial Strategy: Work closely with the Sales and Partnerships teams to structure high-value B2B2C agreements that protect margins and accelerate our market reach.
- FCA & Compliance: Take ownership of our regulatory relationship, holding the SMF designation and ensuring our funeral plan products remain at the forefront of industry compliance.
- AI-Enhanced Operations: Drive the transition toward an automated finance function. We expect our CFO to lead the implementation of intelligent tools for real-time reporting, predictive unit economics, and streamlined administrative workflows.
- Data Stewardship: Establish a "single source of truth" by integrating financial systems with our operational data stack, ensuring every strategic decision is supported by rigorous ROI analysis.
The DNA of an Elite Candidate
- Scale-up Pedigree: You have been a key player in a VC / PE backed startup or high-growth scale-up. You understand how to build systems that work at 10x our current size.
- FCA Fluency: Experience in a regulated financial services environment is essential. You understand the rigour required for SMF-level accountability.
- Relevant Sector Insight: Background in the Funeral Plan or Insurance sectors is highly desirable. You understand the complexities of trust-based or insurance-backed financial products, solvency requirements, and long-term liability management.
- Technological Mindset: You are an "efficiency native." You view AI and automation as primary tools for driving operating leverage and expanding margins.
- Commercial Acumen: You go beyond the spreadsheet. You are a business builder who understands product-market fit, customer acquisition costs (CAC), and lifetime value (LTV).
