Macdonald & Company has partnered with a privately held, vertically integrated real estate owner-operator to identify a Chief Financial Officer to join its leadership team.
The firm focuses on long-term ownership of value-add multifamily assets, combining in-house construction, design, asset management, and finance to reposition older communities into durable, workforce-oriented housing. The platform emphasizes disciplined capital deployment, tax-efficient cash flow, and operational control.
The Role
The CFO will serve as a key partner to the CEO and Board, overseeing the company’s financial and operational infrastructure while helping translate strategy into execution. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for an executive comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving environment with broad responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial insight to support executive decision-making
- Oversee accounting, reporting, tax, debt, legal, insurance, and systems infrastructure
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, liquidity planning, and cash management
- Support capital structuring, joint ventures, and lender relationships
- Partner with leadership on risk management and enterprise planning
- Build and manage a high-performing internal team across finance-related functions
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in accounting or finance, including senior leadership roles
- Background as a Controller, Director of Accounting, Director of Finance, or similar
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Strong understanding of real estate capital markets and deal structuring
- Experience in closely held or entrepreneurial environments preferred
