The Current Project Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced CFO/Technical Controller to join our team. The candidate will support our municipal and non-profit clients with strategic initiatives and technical accounting implementation. They will be supporting with audit readiness, timely/accurate closing of the books, and team training.
The candidate will be an impressive communicator, self-accountable, and highly effective, able to shape a robust and efficient finance team, streamline financial processes, and help drive strategic decisions across the organization. As CFO, you will ensure compliance with financial processes, report on P&L, Cash Flow, and other key financial metrics, and manage risks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data shared across departments.
This position is contract basis, results oriented, and hands on. Hour load will flex to match the project demands. Project duration will flex as need.
Also, for a variety of clients, as needed:
- Lead Financial Operations: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial statements and processes. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to meet business objectives.
- Manage AR and AP Processes: Maintain accurate and efficient handling of all AR and AP functions, and ensure accuracy in financial transactions, compliance, and reporting.
- Shape and Develop Finance Teams: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team, focused on driving efficiency, improving processes, and achieving operational excellence. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous development within the finance function.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Perform in-depth financial analysis, providing monthly management commentary and supporting data to guide business decisions. Present KPIs and develop new financial metrics as needed to support business goals.
- Financial Risk Management: Identify, supervise, and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the accuracy of financial data shared with Directors and Operations teams.
- Audit Oversight: Actively participate in internal and external audits, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented and compliance with financial processes is maintained.
Qualifications:
- Education: Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- Certification: CPA or CMA (REQUIRED).
- Systems: Demonstrated experience with Netsuite/QuickBooks/Sage/Abila/BS&A/Other related ERPs (REQUIRED). Additional systems as needed.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of combined accounting and finance experience in a controller or CFO leadership role in municipal or nonprofit settings.
- Leadership: Proven experience in managing and shaping / developing finance teams, with the ability to drive efficiency and cultivate a high-performing culture.
- Technical Skills: Strong expertise in financial analysis, reporting, forecasting/modeling, and cost accounting. Proficiency in SAP and manufacturing environments is essential.
- Business Acumen: The ability to work as a strategic business partner across departments, influencing decisions and fostering collaboration to achieve organizational goals.
- Analytical Mindset: Excellent ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate trends, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $90.00 - $110.00 per hour
