Our client, an elite litigation firm with a strong national presence, is seeking an accomplished and strategic Chief Financial Officer to join their leadership team. Combining strategic foresight with operational precision, the CFO will serve as a trusted financial advisor to firm leadership, translating complex financial data into strategic insight while fostering alignment across partners and administrative leadership.
This role requires executive judgment, institutional stewardship, and measurable execution in a multi office, partner driven governance environment. This key role is a true executive seat with direct access to the Management Committee and equity partners. The clear mandate is to strengthen financial architecture, liquidity discipline, and decision ready reporting as the firm advances its next phase of growth.
The CFO will lead the firm’s full finance enterprise, including FP&A, accounting, treasury, partnership finance, capital planning, billing and collections, tax, audit, risk management, and financial systems. While the firm reports on an accrual basis, leadership reporting is evolving toward a disciplined cash operating framework to ensure distributions, capital strategy, and growth investments are grounded in reconciled, real-time financial intelligence. The CFO must be fluent in bringing all together.
The ideal candidate will bring 15 or more years of progressive finance leadership, including 10 or more years as a law firm CFO or CAO within an Am Law 200 firm or elite litigation boutique. This role combines strategic foresight with disciplined execution, driving profitability, strengthening working capital performance, overseeing risk and controls, while building and leading high-performing finance teams.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred. This role is based in New York with cross office executive engagement and availability consistent with firm leadership responsibilities. Compensation includes salary ($475K–$550K++) plus performance based bonus aligned with firm profitability, liquidity performance, and strategic execution.
