Chief Financial Officer — Real Estate Management
Location: West Orange, New Jersey
A growing commercial and residential real estate management company in West Orange, NJ has recently relocated its corporate offices and is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial operations. This is a key executive role for a seasoned real estate finance professional who brings 10+ years of progressive experience within the commercial and residential property sector.
About the Role
The CFO will oversee all accounting and finance functions, direct financial strategy, and ensure the company’s continued stability and growth. This leader will manage a small, capable team while serving as the primary financial contact for banking relationships, legal counsel, and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all corporate financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Oversee treasury and cash management, ensuring liquidity and financial strength across all entities and properties.
- Manage and mentor a small accounting/finance team, fostering accuracy, accountability, and professional growth.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for ownership and external stakeholders.
- Partner with lenders, attorneys, and auditors to support financing, compliance, and transactional activities.
- Enhance internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting systems to support continued expansion.
- Provide strategic financial insights to ownership and executive leadership.
- Oversee construction budgeting and monitor construction loan draw process.
- Involvement in underwriting new developments and acquisitions
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience within commercial and/or residential real estate.
- Strong knowledge of property management accounting, entity structures, and real estate financial operations.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, and cash management.
- Prior supervisory experience required along with an expertise in working with Yardi software.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
