Growing, multi-store franchise dealership group committed to operational excellence, profitability, and long-term leadership development. We seek a seasoned Controller with deep automotive dealership experience and ambition to advance to CFO.
Role Overview
You’ll manage all accounting, financial reporting, controls, cash flow, and budgeting across dealership operations while partnering with leadership on strategy. This role is hands-on and strategic — designed for a Controller who wants a clear path to CFO through demonstrated performance, leadership, and scalable process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly close, consolidation, GAAP financial statements, and variance analysis for P&Ls
- Lead dealership accounting: F&I accounting, fixed ops, parts, service, used/new vehicle accounting, floorplan reconciliation, and manufacturer/vendor reporting
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, working capital, and financing relationships (floorplan, bank)
- Implement and maintain internal controls
- Prepare KPI dashboards, dealer board materials, and actionable executive reports
- Drive cost controls, margin improvement, dealer-level profitability initiatives
- Supervise accounting team; recruit, mentor, and develop staff
- Lead system improvements and standardize processes across locations
- Support M&A diligence, integration, and financial modeling as needed
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years as Controller (or equivalent) within automotive franchised dealerships
- Deep understanding of dealership operations: F&I, parts, service, sales, floorplan accounting
- Strong technical skills: GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Experience with dealer DMS systems (e.g., Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, CDK) and Excel; familiarity with BI/ERP tools a plus
- Proven leadership of accounting teams and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication skills, comfort presenting to owners/board
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and able to scale finance function for growth
- Must live within 1 hour of Framingham, MA or be willing to relocate

Pay: $94,260.62 - $150,000.00 per year
