The ideal candidate is responsible for leading, directing, and overseeing the financial operations of the company, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls. Reporting directly to the Owner, this role doubles as a strategic partner while also ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. As a key member of the management team, the position plays a critical role in maintaining financial discipline, supporting operational growth, and upholding the values of a family-owned organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees and provides leadership to employees responsible for accounting, financial reporting, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and budgeting.
- Establishes, implements, and maintains internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard company assets and across all financial activities.
- Establishes performance expectations, provides coaching and development, and identifies training needs within the accounting team.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Accounting Leadership:
- Directs the company's accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing functions.
- Oversees month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepares and reviews financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Ensures financial records and reporting comply with generally accepted
- accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Develops, maintains, and enforces accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets, reduce risk, and improve accountability.
- Coordinates with external auditors, accountants, and advisors to support audits, tax filings, and financial reviews.
- Oversees preparation and filing of required financial, tax, and regulatory reports.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support the finance function and organizational objectives.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning:
- Leads the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting efforts by reviewing financial results from past, current, and projected operations and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Analyzes variances between projected and actual performance and recommends corrective action.
- Provides financial analysis and insights related to operational performance, pricing, cost control, capital expenditures, and operational investments.
- Monitors cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure operational stability
Strategic Partnership & Growth:
- Partners with ownership and leadership to establish short- and long-term financial goals and strategies.
- Evaluates operational performance and identifies opportunities for improved efficiency and profitability.
- Analyzes market trends and economic conditions to assess impact on sales and margins.
- Assesses expansion opportunities, capital investments, and risk exposure.
- Supports decision-making related to equipment purchases, fleet investments, facility improvements, and growth initiatives.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, including significant hands-on accounting responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a private or family-owned business preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to access warehouse and operational areas as needed.
