Opportunity Overview
We are a growing, privately held construction company operating as a partnership and generating over $200M in annual revenue. We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to serve as a strategic financial leader and trusted advisor to our partners and executive team.
This role requires more than financial oversight — it demands a leader who can translate complex financial data into clear, confident guidance for ownership. The CFO will oversee cash flow strategy, forecasting, and financial planning while ensuring accurate, timely reporting across a multi-state operation. The ideal candidate understands the nuances of privately owned partnerships and can both manage the numbers and clearly articulate what they mean.
This is an in-office leadership role based in Raleigh, NC, with direct responsibility for mentoring and elevating an established finance team.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic financial partner to ownership, clearly explaining financial performance, risks, and projections
- Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership and partners
- Lead preparation and presentation of financial statements, including detailed cash flow statements
- Develop and oversee short- and long-term financial forecasting models
- Drive annual budgeting processes and ongoing financial planning
- Manage multi-state financial operations and compliance considerations
- Provide oversight of tax strategy and coordination with external tax advisors
- Ensure government compliance and risk management best practices
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team, including Finance Manager and FP&A leadership
- Establish accountability, urgency, and performance standards within the accounting function
- Strengthen financial reporting accuracy and improve clarity of internal financial data
- Work closely with the CEO to understand business nuances and proactively drive financial strategy
- Support partner-level financial reporting, including calculations, allocations, and performance analysis
- Oversee internal controls and ensure the integrity of financial systems
Requirements
- Previously served as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a company generating $200M+ in annual revenue (Director-level experience alone will not be considered)
- Experience working within a privately held company or partnership structure
- Strong cash flow management and forecasting expertise
- Experience leading and developing direct reports within finance and accounting
- Multi-state operational experience
- Working knowledge of tax strategy and compliance
- Ability to operate in-office full time in Raleigh, NC (relocation required if not local)
- Construction industry experience preferred but not required
