A growing, multi-state professional services firm is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead and elevate its finance function. This executive will report directly to firm leadership and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, billing, collections, budgeting, and reporting.
The CFO will play a critical role in strengthening financial discipline, improving revenue cycle performance, and driving operational efficiency across the organization. This individual will partner closely with leadership to provide strategic financial insight, support decision-making, and help guide the firm’s continued growth.
Ideal candidates will bring a strong foundation in accounting and finance within a professional services environment, along with experience improving processes, building scalable infrastructure, and leading high-performing teams. The role requires both hands-on execution and the ability to operate as a strategic advisor to the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations including accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and reporting
- Establish reliable month-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financials
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning across the organization
- Overhaul billing and collections processes to reduce errors and improve cash flow
- Partner with senior leadership to provide insights on profitability and growth strategy
- Oversee financial systems and drive optimization and reporting improvements
- Strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial governance
- Lead, mentor, and restructure the finance team as needed
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
- Prior experience as a senior finance leader within a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
- Proven ability to clean up and improve billing and revenue cycle operations
- Strong leadership presence with ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Experience managing multi-location or multi-state operations
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
Work Setup/Location
- Hybrid environment (target ~3 days onsite, some flexibility)
- Some travel required initially to align teams and processes
