Position Summary:
PokerAtlas is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to serve as the company’s hands-on finance leader, overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and planning functions. This is a solo role in which the CFO will personally manage all aspects of finance and accounting—from monthly close and GAAP compliance to budgeting, forecasting, AR/AP, compliance and reporting.
The CFO will ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data while driving the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes. They will play a key role in preparing PokerAtlas for strategic opportunities by building scalable financial models, comprehensive reporting tools, and audit-ready documentation. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys owning both the details and the strategy in a lean, fast-moving environment.
Role Responsibilities:
Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings in accordance with GAAP.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal partners.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance processes.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Develop and manage annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and multi-scenario financial models.
- Lead quarterly reforecasting and variance analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
- Define and track key performance metrics (e.g., MRR, CAC, LTV, gross margin) to measure business health and inform executive decisions.
- Partner with leadership to provide forward-looking insights on cash flow, runway, and operational performance.
Strategic Growth and Transaction Readiness
- Prepare financial packages, KPI dashboards, and board-level presentations.
- Build and maintain an organized financial data room for corporate development and growth initiatives.
- Lead financial preparation and analysis for growth initiatives, audits, and potential transactions.
- Develop pro formas, valuation models, and other financial materials supporting strategic growth initiatives.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Drive automation, efficiency, and accuracy across all finance functions.
- Implement and optimize accounting and FP&A systems (e.g., Zoho Books, QuickBooks, NetSuite) to streamline reporting and improve data accuracy.
- Establish scalable processes to support future team growth and external review requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller-level responsibilities.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP and experience leading annual financial audits.
- Proven success managing end-to-end finance and accounting operations—from close and compliance to AR/AP, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Self-starter who thrives in a lean, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment.
- Advanced Excel and modeling capabilities; familiarity with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Zoho, QuickBooks, NetSuite).
- Deep technical expertise across GAAP standards, including ASC 842 (Lease Accounting), ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition and Multiple Element Arrangements), Black-Scholes calculations, fixed asset roll-forwards, inventory, and software capitalization.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Familiarity in technology, SaaS, fintech, and/or gaming.
- Experience in fundraising, investor/board reporting and transactional due diligence.
- Prior experience in a high-growth or privately held environment.
- Knowledge of financial modeling and corporate valuation principles.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
