Randstad is seeking an experienced Accounting Professional with Education Industry Experience for a CFO opportunity. Reporting directly to the Head of School, this role will oversee all fiscal and business functions, driving financial strategy while maintaining direct oversight of governance, internal controls, and asset protection.

- Compensation: $175,000 – $200,000+
Core Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain annual operating budgets and multi-year planning models. Oversee full-cycle AP/AR operations, tuition billing, vendor payment processing, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Direct GAAP compliance, manage state/accreditation reporting, and partner with external auditors to complete annual audited financial statements and IRS Form 990 filings.
- Directly supervise, mentor, and direct the daily activities of the Business Office team, including the Comptroller and HR Specialist.
- Engage and manage primary banking relationships, monitor daily cash flow, conduct monthly multi-account bank reconciliations, and optimize liquidity to support operations.
- Lead payroll processing and tax reporting. Administer comprehensive benefit plans (health, life, workers' comp), draft faculty/staff employment contracts, update handbooks, execute salary benchmarking, and direct annual 403(b) plan/Form 5500 audits.
- Calculate and distribute financial aid awards in coordination with the Financial Aid and Admissions Committees. Oversee foundation/scholarship fund distributions and collaborate with Advancement on fundraising finances.
- Oversee legal counsel relationships, manage corporate liability and property insurance policies, negotiate vendor contracts/RFPs, and support Board and Finance Committee meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA and MBA preferred).
- 10+ years in financial accounting, reporting, and auditing, ideally within non-profits or independent schools.
- At least 5 years of proven supervisory and management experience.
- Track record of collaborating with banks, investment firms, and insurance brokers.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and relationship-building abilities for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, high accuracy, timely execution, and sound judgment/discretion.
- Ability to pass comprehensive background checks (FBI, child safety, and periodic drug/alcohol screenings).
