Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Insurance Broking (Private EquityโBacked)
Reporting To: Management
Branch: Mumbai
Job Summary/About the Role: The CFO is the senior financial leader responsible for driving financial strategy, operational discipline, and value creation in a fast growing, private equityโbacked insurance broking business. This role oversees all financial operations, ensures regulatory compliance under insurance sector norms, and partners closely with the CEO and Stakeholders to deliver growth, profitability, and exit readiness.
Required Qualifications:
- CA or MBA (Finance) preferred.
- 12 - 20+ years of progressive finance leadership, ideally with experience in insurance broking, financial services, or other regulated distribution businesses.
- Prior exposure to private equity environments, including reporting cadence, value creation plans, and exit preparation.
- Strong background in FP&A, M&A, integration, and operational finance.
- Experience managing multi location, high volume transactional operations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic & Stakeholder Aligned Leadership
- Shape and execute the financial strategy aligned with the companyโs growth plan and the PE investment thesis.
- Partner with the CEO and Board to drive organic growth, cross sell initiatives, and margin expansion.
- Lead financial due diligence and integration for bolt on acquisitions.
- Prepare the organization for future exit pathways (strategic sale, secondary PE, or IPO).
2. Financial Planning, Analysis & Performance Management
- Build robust budgeting, forecasting, and KPI frameworks tailored to insurance broking economics (commission income, renewal ratios, productivity metrics, retention, and cost to serve).
- Implement rigorous performance dashboards across branches, verticals, and producer teams.
- Conduct scenario planning for regulatory changes, commission structures, and market cycles.
3. Accounting, Controls & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure accurate financial reporting in line with applicable accounting standards and insurance sector regulations.
- Oversee compliance with IRDAI requirements, including reporting, solvency related norms (if applicable), and audit coordination.
- Strengthen internal controls, revenue recognition processes, and commission reconciliation systems.
- Manage statutory, internal, and PE mandated audits with a high bar for transparency.
4. Cash, Capital & Working Capital Management
- Drive disciplined cash management, including receivables, payables, and insurer settlements.
- Optimize working capital cycles, especially premium collections and insurer remittances.
- Oversee treasury, banking relationships, and debt facilities (if leveraged).
5. Risk Management & Governance
- Implement enterprise risk frameworks covering operational, financial, cyber, and compliance risks.
- Ensure strong data governance, especially around customer information and insurer broker data flows.
- Oversee insurance coverage for E&O, cyber, and operational risks.
6. Operational & Technology Enablement
- Partner with business heads to improve productivity, cost efficiency, and branch level profitability.
- Lead finance related digital transformation: ERP upgrades, commission engines, CRM integration, and analytics.
- Build scalable processes to support rapid growth and acquisition integration.
7. Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary financial interface with PE sponsors, lenders, auditors, and key insurers.
- Deliver timely, accurate board packs, investor updates, and covenant reporting.
- Communicate financial insights clearly to both operational teams and sophisticated investors.
