About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global investment management firm, is seeking an SMA Data Oversight and Business Enablement Specialist in New York. This pivotal role supports the Managed Account Group, focusing on data governance, oversight, and operational enablement for Separately Managed Account (SMA) solutions across a wide variety of security types and distribution platforms. The position offers the opportunity to drive strategic alignment, oversee key business metrics, and play a significant part in scaling the SMA business by partnering cross-functionally with senior management and critical business units.
The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $170,000, with a bonus up to 50% of base. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee data management and governance for SMA solutions across the intermediary business
- Deliver executive-level KPIs and metrics to senior management and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with Performance teams to review and analyze performance dispersion across manager-traded accounts and model delivery
- Lead key administrative and regulatory functions, including reporting, mailings, and proxy voting oversight
- Drive operational alignment, integrating best practices and supporting process enhancement initiatives for the SMA business
- Facilitate onboarding for new intermediary relationships, ensuring seamless transition from contract to implementation
- Define departmental procedures and identify opportunities for continuous operational improvements
- Act as a subject matter expert, partnering deeply with Portfolio Management, Legal/Compliance, Technology, Sales, and RFP teams
- Support cross-functional strategic initiatives and collaborate closely with Intermediary Sales
- Ensure oversight of outsourced back office operations, confirming adherence to required policies and procedures
- Manage annual due diligence reviews of intermediary SMA partners
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in financial services, ideally with a background in client service or operations management
- In-depth knowledge of SMA structures, tax-managed strategies, and investment products including equities, fixed income, derivatives, ETFs, and mutual funds
- Proven experience working with financial intermediaries in a professional, client-facing capacity
- Strong analytical ability to synthesize data from multiple systems and deliver actionable insights
- Strategic mindset combined with hands-on operational skills; adept at aligning departments and processes for improved results
- Outstanding attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with platforms such as Charles Schwab (Marketplace), Fidelity (Separate Account Network), Pershing, Aladdin, Charles River, Investor Tools Perform, InvestCloud APL, Archer, or Vestmark is highly desirable
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; Visio experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required
- FINRA Series 7 and 66 registrations are a plus
