Position Summary
Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer for our International, Industrial & Beverage Business Unit will provide leadership of all aspects of finance and accounting for this global business. She/He will serve as a key strategic partner to both the Novolex Chief Financial Officer and the Business Unit President. This position will support efforts to provide better solutions, expand margins and generate strong cash flow. The individual will maintain a financial reporting/internal control system that will provide management with the appropriate financial and operating information. She/He will develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance, operational excellence and other criteria that directly reflect the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the segment. She/He will be expected to lead efforts to enhance financial capabilities and transition to a more commercially and operationally focused function integral to driving performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate as a key business partner to the Business Unit President. Contribute to business strategy development and operational execution of business plans that drive growth, while simultaneously continuing efforts to fully integrate a business built though acquisition.
- Work with the operational and commercial teams to analyze business performance, highlight areas of opportunity and remediation, and help drive coordinated action plans.
- Provide strategic financial leadership and support on the evaluation of potential mergers, acquisitions, investments and/or other issues affecting the business. Perform special analyses to support strategic business decision making - this can include financial analysis in support of M&A, capital investments, changing business models, pricing models, etc.
- Drive accurate, concise and useful financial reporting across the Business Unit. Facilitate the preparation of monthly financial reports including monthly profit and loss, forecast vs. budget and periodic cash flow by operating company. Provide guidance on how to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve overall operating efficiency.
- Develop and lead a strong finance team by recruiting, selecting, developing and retaining high performing talent. Provide career development and coaching/mentoring. Develop management reporting capabilities, ensuring cross-functional alignment and communication, with a focus on actionable and forward-looking information.
- Effectively and clearly communicate potential risks to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Monitor and confirm the segment's financial condition by supporting activities of internal and external auditors. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, improving, and enforcing internal controls.
- Collaborate with corporate finance and accounting teams to coordinate a timely and accurate closing, budgeting & forecasting cycle; ensure alignment around accounting and reporting policies. Work collaboratively with corporate colleagues (i.e., treasury, tax, audit) in improving financial processes, implementing policy changes, and executing strategies and initiatives.
- Ensure best-in-class financial governance through the management of Business Unit accounting and control functionality, including all balance sheet reconciliations and period end activities.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance and accurate and timely reporting of the financial results, budget analysis and financial reviews.
Ideal Experience
Senior finance executive leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
15+ years in finance roles with increasing responsibility including a division CFO role in a complex manufacturing business of relevant scale and complexity; global scope preferred.
Team leadership.
Leadership or responsibility for a geographically distributed team of at least 20, ideally in a complex, matrixed organization.
Process Improvement Experience.
Continuous improvement mindset and experience building best-in-class finance process and capabilities, including leveraging technology to improve efficiency.
M&A Experience.
Mergers and acquisitions experience; has previously led complex integration(s).
Education and credentials.
Strong academic credentials, including a required bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a relevant field. An MBA or CPA is preferred.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $250,000 - $300,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
