What This Role Entails
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will have a hands-on role in nearly every aspect of 41 North Contractors and its affiliate companies. The CFO is responsible for the 41 North accounting team, managing and leading the financial initiatives of the companies. The CFO is an integral part of the organization. This role requires experience in all facets of financial management and accounting operations in multiple states. The position is located out of our Lisle, IL office and is in-person.
What You Will Be Doing
Supervise day-to-day accounting, cash management including cash flows, financial projections, account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries
Monthly closings, financial statements, and preparation for multiple business entities. Ensure all accounting and reporting are in accord with GAAP and tax laws
Compliance including annual reports, business licenses, property tax, local, state, and federal tax requirements. Arrange for prompt tax filings and payments
Liaisons with Bank relationships
Liaisons with CPA accounting firm for audit
Coordinate with Commercial Insurance and Bonding options. Review Risk management options
Review Payroll process for legal compliance
Development and training of assigned staff
Develop and implement monthly and annual budgets Including reporting and analysis
Participate in Operations Job Cost reporting process. Review of WIP and percentage completion schedules
Develop processes to Benchmark costs relative to “industry standards”
What You Are Bringing To The Table
Proven organizational leadership to achieve company goals
Proven experience as CFO, Finance Officer or relevant role
Ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients, peers, banks, insurance companies, CPA firm and 41 North Members
Ability and experience to develop, coach and motivate direct reports
Strong knowledge of financial management software to include Paylocity and Spectrum platforms
Solid GAAP and financial reporting skills
General knowledge of construction accounting process
Knowledge of computer systems and accounting/finance software applications
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance of relevant field.

CPA experience is a strong advantage
