CommonAI is redefining how deep tech AI solutions are built through shared infrastructure and collaborative engineering. CommonAI Compute, part of the wider group, delivers cost-effective multi-cloud compute services for AI teams. We are building at the intersection of AI, cloud and large-scale infrastructure—working with commercial, government and research partners to accelerate AI adoption across the UK and Europe.
The Opportunity:
This is not a traditional admin role.
We are hiring a high-potential early-career individual to work closely with senior leadership, directly shadowing the CTO. You will gain front-row exposure to how a high-growth AI company is built and run—across strategy, fundraising, partnerships, hiring and operations.
The role is designed as a launchpad. You will be given responsibility early, expected to operate with autonomy and supported to develop core business skills including negotiation, decision-making and team coordination.
For the right individual, this can evolve into broader roles across operations, commercial, or chief of staff.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Managing schedules, coordinating meetings and ensuring senior leaders are focused on highest-impact priorities
- Preparing briefings, presentations and materials for internal and external meetings
- Attending selected meetings to track actions, follow up and learn how decisions are made
- Supporting across key business areas including partnerships, fundraising, hiring and internal operations
- Taking ownership of projects and improving processes as you identify opportunities
- Acting as a reliable point of coordination across teams, partners and stakeholders
- Helping organise events, meetings and external engagements
Requirements
We are looking for exceptional potential, not a specific background. You might be a recent graduate or early in your career, but you will already have work evidence demonstrating drive, ownership and high standards.
You are likely to have:
- A good university degree or equivalent evidence of excellent written and verbal skills.
- Meaningful experience beyond academics, for example leading or building something (e.g. university society, charity, project, event, production)
- Work experience within a fast-paced, people-facing environment (eg bar work, admin work, receptionist)
You will stand out if you:
- Take initiative and follow through without being asked
- Have excellent writing and communication skills
- Are highly organised and detail-oriented
- Communicate clearly and confidently in person and on the phone
- Are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Are ambitious and motivated to build a career in business, operations, or leadership
- Have strong judgement and a high level of professionalism
- Are excited to work in a software engineering environment
Please note that this role is within CommonAI Compute and by applying you agree to CommonAI CIC sharing your details with them.
Benefits
- Direct, day-to-day exposure to senior leadership
- Hands-on learning across negotiation, fundraising, operations and team leadership
- Early responsibility in a high-growth environment
- Clear path to more senior roles for high performers
- A chance to build a strong foundation for a future leadership career
- A vibrant Cambridge office close to the station, with great perks including snacks and a well-equipped gym
