About the Client
Our client is a growth-stage SaaS company with a modern platform, strong market momentum, and a growing base of recurring revenue. The business operates in a large professional market and has built real traction by combining a compelling product, clear customer value, and a scalable commercial engine.
The company is entering its next phase of growth, with the opportunity to further expand revenue, deepen customer relationships, and improve operating leverage. At this stage, leadership needs finance to do far more than report results. The company is looking for a strategic financial leader who can help translate growth into durable, efficient scale by bringing rigor to forecasting, investment decisions, pricing, resource allocation, and overall business performance.
This is a chance to join a company where the fundamentals are strong and the runway ahead is meaningful. The right leader will help management see around corners, make smarter decisions faster, and build the financial discipline needed to support continued growth.
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the company’s finance organization and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This role will have responsibility for financial planning and analysis, forecasting, management reporting, business performance analysis, and overall financial leadership across the organization. Depending on structure, the CFO may also oversee accounting, treasury, tax, audit, and related finance operations.
The CFO will own the financial narrative of the company: what is happening in the business, why it is happening, what it means for revenue, margin, and cash flow, and where leadership should invest next. This person will bring clarity to the company’s operating performance and ensure that financial insight is embedded in the most important decisions across the business.
This role will work especially closely with the CEO and leaders across marketing, product, and operations. A major part of the mandate is ensuring that acquisition spend, retention trends, pricing decisions, and product investments are translated quickly and accurately into forecasts, operating plans, and capital allocation decisions. The right person will not be a passive scorekeeper. They will be an active strategic partner who can challenge assumptions, improve resource allocation, and help leadership scale the business efficiently and intelligently.
Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Executive Leadership
- Serve as the senior financial leader of the company and a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team
- Shape the company’s financial strategy, operating priorities, and capital allocation decisions in support of long-term growth and profitability
- Translate business performance into a clear financial narrative for leadership, including what is working, where risks are emerging, and what actions should be taken
- Provide strategic guidance on growth investments, pricing strategy, resource allocation, organizational planning, and margin improvement
- Bring financial discipline and analytical rigor to the company’s most important decisions while maintaining speed and practicality
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Own the company-wide financial plan, including revenue, operating expenses, profitability, and cash flow
- Lead the annual planning process and ongoing forecast cycles, ensuring plans remain grounded in current business realities and evolving performance trends
- Build and refine integrated financial models that connect acquisition, retention, monetization, pricing, and operating leverage to topline and bottom-line outcomes
- Develop scenario plans around growth investments, marketing efficiency, churn behavior, pricing changes, and new product initiatives
- Establish clear forecasting assumptions, improve forecast accuracy over time, and create a planning environment leadership can trust
Performance Management & Decision Support
- Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews with clear variance analysis, driver-based insights, and actionable recommendations
- Develop reporting, dashboards, and KPI frameworks that improve visibility into revenue quality, margin performance, customer economics, and cash efficiency
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate investment opportunities, pressure-test assumptions, and assess expected return
- Help identify inefficient spend and redirect resources toward the highest-return opportunities
- Strengthen accountability across the organization by ensuring operating goals are measurable, transparent, and tied to financial outcomes
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with marketing leadership to evaluate channel performance, conversion trends, CAC efficiency, payback periods, and return on spend
- Work with product and operating leaders to translate user behavior, retention initiatives, pricing changes, and feature launches into financial impact
- Support headcount planning and organizational investment decisions with a disciplined view of efficiency, scalability, and expected return
- Act as the financial counterweight in executive discussions by ensuring decisions are grounded in both data and economic reality
Finance Organization, Controls & Infrastructure
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance function capable of supporting a scaled and growing business
- Strengthen financial controls, planning processes, reporting consistency, and trust in the numbers across the organization
- Ensure tight alignment between accounting outputs, management reporting, and operating decision-making
- Build scalable finance processes and systems that support growth without introducing unnecessary complexity
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders on audit, tax, treasury, compliance, and other core finance matters as needed
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success will not be measured by producing polished spreadsheets alone. Success means the executive team has a clear, credible, and actionable view of the business and can make better decisions faster because the numbers are accurate, timely, and grounded in operational truth.
A successful CFO in this seat will:
- Improve confidence in the company’s forecasts by making them more accurate, more explainable, and more useful for decision-making
- Increase visibility into the real drivers of revenue, margin, retention, and marketing efficiency
- Help the business allocate capital more effectively and improve cash efficiency without slowing momentum
- Create a stronger operating cadence where financial and business reviews lead to real action, not just discussion
- Establish finance as a true strategic partner to the business rather than a reporting function
- Become the executive in the room who can quickly connect operating activity to financial implications and articulate what leadership should do next
Requirements
- Proven senior finance leadership experience as a CFO, divisional CFO, or senior VP/Head of Finance in a subscription, recurring revenue, consumer internet, marketplace, digital media, or direct-response environment
- Deep experience in FP&A, forecasting, business modeling, and performance analysis within a scaled, growth-oriented business
- Strong command of subscription or recurring-revenue metrics, including LTV, CAC, payback period, churn, retention curves, cohort behavior, and unit economics
- Demonstrated ability to partner directly with executive leadership on capital allocation, investment prioritization, and company-level strategic decisions
- Experience leading cross-functional finance processes that connect commercial activity to revenue, margin, and cash flow outcomes
- Strong grasp of how pricing, retention, conversion, and channel mix affect financial performance over time
- Ability to operate strategically while staying close to detail; comfortable moving between board-level or executive recommendations and hands-on analysis
- Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to distill complexity into clear, direct, and actionable insights
- High level of judgment, accountability, and intellectual honesty
- Comfort working in an environment where speed matters, assumptions need to be challenged, and finance is expected to influence business decisions in real time
