A well‑established, multi‑office regional law firm based in Florida is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a strategic business partner to firm leadership. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the firm’s financial strategy, operations, and long‑term growth initiatives.
Position Overview
The CFO will play a critical role in shaping the firm’s financial health and operational efficiency while supporting practice growth, partner profitability, and strategic expansion. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner and Executive Committee, the CFO will lead all financial functions and help modernize financial processes across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management
- Serve as a strategic advisor to firm leadership on profitability, pricing, compensation models, and growth initiatives
- Oversee partner distributions, capital accounts, trust accounting, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Develop and manage annual budgets, long‑term financial plans, and key performance metrics across practice groups
- Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls to support scalability and transparency
- Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, insurance programs, and external auditors
- Partner with firm leadership on lateral growth, office expansion, technology investments, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Lead and mentor the finance, accounting, and billing teams, driving accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
- Deep understanding of law firm economics, partnership structures, billing, collections, and trust accounting
- Proven track record of strategic financial planning, operational improvement, and leadership influence
- Strong analytical, communication, and executive‑level presentation skills
- Experience supporting executive committees and working directly with equity partners
