Marks Sattin Executive Search is working with a private family office currently seeking a high-calibre Fractional Chief Financial Officer to support across both personal financial matters and direct business interests. This is a fractional role, expected to be c.3/4 days per week.
The Fractional Chief Financial Officer will provide both strategic oversight and hands-on execution across a diverse portfolio of family office, personal and investment structures. This will include overseeing financial management, liquidity planning and reporting, while supporting direct business interests, portfolio companies and principal-led investment activity. The role will involve leading budgeting processes, strengthening financial controls and ensuring overall financial discipline across the family office, as well as coordinating closely with external advisers including tax, legal, audit and corporate service providers.
A key focus of the role will be driving process efficiency and continuous improvement, including the practical adoption of AI-enabled tools and modern technologies to enhance reporting, streamline workflows and strengthen financial controls. This will include the professionalisation and standardisation of reporting across the full portfolio, spanning both minority and majority investments into commercial businesses.
You will be working closely with principals to deliver clear, concise financial insight and decision support, assisting with transaction activity including structuring, diligence and financing where required. The position will also play a key role in enhancing systems, reporting and internal processes to improve efficiency, visibility and control, ensuring the finance function operates with a high degree of effectiveness and scalability.
The ideal candidate:
- A qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA), preferably chartered.
- Proven senior finance leadership experience within a family office, private equity or principal investment environment.
- Strong technical finance capability combined with sound commercial judgement.
- Comfortable operating across both personal/family office matters and business/investment activities.
- Technologically capable, with a track record of process improvement and implementation of modern systems and AI-enabled tools.
- Highly discreet, credible and dependable, with the presence to work effectively with principals, management teams and external advisers.
- A hands-on, responsive and flexible approach, suited to a fractional / part-time role.
c.3 days per week (flexible), with scope to scale time commitment up or down as required. c.£200k FTE, pro rata.
